How to get connected and use the many features of this application for the xbox?
Especially the movie trailer downloads?

how is ur connection from the box to the net?
directly to he net or u use ur pc as the gateway?

if ur using ur pc as the internet gateway for ur xbox...
edit the xboxmediacenter.xml file...
insert ur xbox ip and the gateway

Thanks man...but i already found out...installed a new dash and now i can access the network settings on m$ dash.
I set it to use dasboard default and now it works fine...just wondering if can get local weather condition....

actually i just wanna know what's the default font for xbmc (or PM3 skin in particular)...
wanna get similar skin w/ chinese characters... the simhei english font are ugly

OK here is my case. My PC connect to ADSL modem. I have no hub. My PC has 2 network card (one is built in) so my Xbox is connected to my PC using cross cable. How can I enable Xbox to access the Internet thru my PC?

My OS is WinXP? What is the proper settings on the Xbox and PC?

Os sorry man.....i use router and that is as easy as it gets....for me...

It tok me 1 week of online study to get the xbox to goonline ....now can listen to better radio coverage from all over the world and download movies and trailers ....
Id suggest you get a router .....without wifi will also do.....

What you need to do is configure your computers ip address's.. so go into your computer network connections and go into the properties of the nic that is connected to the internet. check off obtain a IP address automatically.

now for the nic that is connected to the xbox. going into the properties. check off use the following IP.

Next, where it says IP address, enter: 192.168.0.1. Where it says Subnet Mask, enter: 255.255.255.0. , and where it says default gateway enter 192.168.0.1

next while still in the properties of the nic. click on the configure button.. then click on the advanced tab. then click on network media and set it to 10baseT full duplex.

now your computer should all be good to go.

now you want to startup evolution x and go into the system settings a get your IP address. its usually 192.168.0.3 something like that. make note of it.

try ftp'ing ur xbox

hey urm.. sorry am a noob to this whole XMBC thingy, i've just managed to configured my xbox to play lastfm, but how do i go about doing something else, like downloading movie trailers per say....

u can do this by download the phyton script for it
u can watch and download game trailer from gamespot.com
u can even download movies or music using the torrent script

bah.. sciprt.. the worst.. for me .. that is.. to edit those ... file.. and type... those.... codes..

jst download it tho

I'm mentioning the slow way.. (which is kinda stupid that I ahve to type the codes ) last time I got xbmc.(the first version )

Just download or torrent for ooba and all the scripts are there.....

someone has just installed XBMC for me and i think it becomes the main dashboard as when i power up the xbox, XBMC shows up. however, i don't see any EvoX. is there any problem if there is only XBMC installed without EvoX?

i am a noob on this XBMC and have a question to ask. hope the sifu here could help me out.

if i want to FTP files (pictures, movies, mp3,etc.) from my PC to XBOX, which drive in my XBOX should i FTP the files to? i could see there are few drives under explorer in my XBMC, eg: drive C (same datas as drive Q), drive D (DVD-ROM), drive E, drive F (nothing in it), drive G (nothing in it too).

XBMC can work fine without EvoX, most of the functions u need to use are already there. my box boots to XBMC directly, not having any difficulties. Use F or G, put them in the appropriate folder (check where your xbmc shortcuts are pointing to). and oh, dont mess with C:, E: unless u know what u r doing, and dont ever mess with X: Y: Z:.

hehe yeahh just upload the things inside ur F:

so it doesn't matter either i save it in F or G drive? i'm not so clear about what hikaru_x mentioned about xbmc shortcuts are pointing to

btw, do i need to create folders in the drive that i want to FTP? eg: "Pictures" for jpeg files, "Music" for mp3, cdda files and "Movies" for mpeg4, avi, mov, etc.....

actually, its more like 'it doesn't matter if u screw up the F and G drive', LoL, sorry to confuse you. those are just normal drives, what u put and how u arrange them doesn't matter much. XBMC will have default location to point o Games, Pictures, Videos, etc. eg: F:\Games, F:\Pictures, F:\Videos, you can even add your own, I forgot the default locations, I'll check the xbmc config file when i get back ok?

i noticed on the xmbc dashboard that it shows my F drive is unavailable

eg: C drive: 143mb, E drive: 3210mb, F drive: unavailable

but under x kai or something like that, i can see F:/games if i go to the Edit Path. i can also see F drive on File Explorer (but of course nothing in it).

so i better save things under G drive? it seems like my E drive has much more datas as the storage is about 3.2 GB (things i see in my E drive are something like apps, udata, tdata, cache, etc...)

i am planning to do this before i try FTP. that is i put a CD-R that contain video clips (WMV, MPG,etc.) i previously burned and try to copy a file to G drive and see whether i can playback that particular file later on in xbmc.

F drive only available if you have change your HDD to something bigger

sorry, i was under the assumption that you upgraded your hard drive. if you didn't you won't have any space in F or G drive. then you would have to live with E:, put your files in E:\Videos, E:\Music E:\Pictures, etc. Games path is E:\Games and E:\hddloader if i'm not mistaken. to check where you xbmc shortcuts are pointing to, use ftp to get XboxMediaCenter.xml from C:\ or E:\Apps\XBMC (depends on your installation) and open it in notepad or something. you can edit the file and ftp it back in, but be sure not to screw anything up or your XBMC might not boot. If your XBMC wouldn't boot, you can use a disc with EvoX in it to boot your xbox and fix the xml file via ftp.

so have to FTP the files to E drive........

i guess i still need to study the xbmc online manual in order to understand the whole thing. especially editing xboxmediacenter.xml

there is a function in xbmc like "edit path", anyone know what is it use for?

Hi, i'm still new in this console world. Just got my xbox last week. Yeah, i know pretty late huh...anyway, ive always been an admirer of xbmc. It just plain rocks !!! Now that i have my xbox, i want to install xbmc. The problem is, i cant get all of the required stuff to install xbmc, like the games and all. I was wondering, if anyone would be kind enough to lend a helping hand ? I wouldnt mind paying a small fee...currently, i'm in Melaka and come down to KL in the weekends...so if anyone is willing to help, drop me a message...tq

Anyone use their xbox1 on a LCD monitor? HOW? PLS REPLY ASAP. WHAT TV-converter are u using and hows the quality????

xbmc can also be installed with softmod. try google "softmod xbox" to find the steps to do it.


LCD monitor if doesnt have component input then have to resort to component-to-vga converter. but such converter mostly only accept 480i signal, hence there's not much improvement.

maybe u can try this: XCM 1080p VGA box
i haven't tried it myself, i'm using 720p component direct LCD TV for my xbox1. but from the specs & comments on PA, looks like it'll work better than those normal VGA box.

yes, i want to connect xbox 1. my router came with only one usb adaptor, not sure what to connect to xbox's ethernet port.

Get another RJ-45 cable modem, then connect one end to your router, and the other end to the XBOX. But in your case, you are saying the XBOX is in the other room, so your best bet is to get a wireless homeplug.

It simply uses the wiring cables in your house, as an internet medium, to transfer internet date through the cables from the router to the XBOX in the other room. But this method is expensive. You need 2 pairs of homeplug, and they are retailed at around rm300

OR you need a wireless bridge, quite expensive as well
A pair of these will do, one connected to the router, the other one connected to your Xbox.

does anyone here know how to watch HD movies using xbmc?.. i know it can be done since apple movie trailer can be set to HD

It can be done. But depends on your settings. You want to stream HD media or install HD media onto XBMC?

anyway, what i've done currently is convert HD movies to mp4 and copy to the xbox's HDD.. but still sometimes frame gut stutter.. even i set hdd cache to 0..

or is there a tool that can convert specifically to xbmc?

xbox1 processing capabilities just not powerful enough for most h.264 or avc1 video. if you really have the time to convert, then better to convert to xvid and higher bitrate while maintaining same resolution.

my suggestion is better to get a cheapo dual core cpu and mid range GC. might cost almost 1k but you wouldn't need to waste time anymore to convert few hours just to watch half an hour show.

for xbox 360, just bought a new power brick but for the old model can use straight or must use transformer to down the voltage?

for your xbox: cannot. if you plug and on it, you would have a smoking xbox. have to use transformer.

for your 360: you bought a 240v power brick? then you can use it with your 360, no need transformer.
