Ravel Morrison’s turbulent career is on the verge of hitting rock bottom with Lee Clark desperate to boot him out of Birmingham.

Blues boss Clark has run out of patience with the former Manchester United starlet already, less than three months after signing him on a 12-month loan from West Ham.

Morrison, who was previously booted out of Old Trafford by Sir Alex Ferguson because of off-the-pitch issues, has not started a game for the Championship club since the opening day of the season.

Even though Birmingham are struggling just three points above the relegation zone, Clark is refusing to even include the 19-year-old in his squad.

Sources close to the Midlands club claim Morrison’s attitude in training and around the club has been unacceptable and they want to terminate the loan agreement immediately.

Currently recovering from a knee injury, you might have thought Ashley Young would have watched Manchester United's 3-0 win at Newcastle on Sunday from the comfort of his favourite armchair, or at least the directors' box.

But the England winger decided to test his recuperating legs by climbing up to the upper tier of St James's Park to watch with the travelling fans instead.

Young tried to keep a low profile by wearing a hooded coat but once he was spotted by astonished fans, he was only too happy to pose for pictures and sign autographs.

One in particular looked surprised to see him, having to double take as Young walked up the steps to his seat.

The player, 27, has not played since August after bruising cartilage on his knee and manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he won't be rushed back.

United won 3-0 at Newcastle in one of their best performances of the season so far - first-half headers from Jonny Evans and Patrice Evra put United in control and a third from Tom Cleverley sealed a resounding win.

It is not the first time a United player has stood with their fans - Gary Neville, just retired, was in the United end at Chelsea in March of last year.

Manchester United are ready to reward Tom Cleverley's remarkable progress - by doubling his wages just ONE year after his current contract.

Talks are now underway to bring the England midfielder's salary into line with some of the superstars at the club, after he confirmed his status as one of the most exciting young players in the country with a string of superb performances.

Cleverley is now a fixture in the England team, and is seen as a key part of Sir Alex Ferguson's new-look United side as he looks to create a team that can dominate the Premier League for the next decade.

Crucially, the 23-year-old has begun to show the goals instinct that his manager has been hoping to see, and with his pivotal role in the United team, the Old Trafford board accept the player will demand a bigger deal.

He is currently on around £40,000 a week after signing a contract at the start of last season, but that was before he made any impact in both the Premier League or on the international stage.

Now though, Cleverley can expect to double his money, to reflect his status at the club... even if that will still leave him a long way short of some of the top earners at Old Trafford, such as Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, who command more than twice that figure.

Ferguson has made no secret of the fact he sees the midfielder as the man to take up the mantle of Paul Scholes, and he will use this season to establish the passing of the baton from the veteran to the young pretender.

Cleverley has over two and half years left on his current contract but, given his impact on the international stage, United will not let it run down much further.

They are hoping to thrash out terms to improve the deal before the turn of the year.

Speaking recently, Ferguson explained the player's importance to the club when he said: "He is very mature in what he does because he's got a fine footballing brain, and there's no doubt he's one of the biggest prospects in the English game."

Rooney inspired by captain Keane

Wayne Rooney hopes to replicate the leadership style of former team-mate and Manchester United legend Roy Keane when he skippers England against San Marino on Friday night.

The Reds striker will lead the Three Lions for the first time in a competitive international in the absence of the suspended Steven Gerrard and injured Frank Lampard.

Though traditionally more of a walker than a talker, 26-year-old Rooney is not hesitant when asked how he intends to captain his country and which former skipper has inspired him most.

“Roy Keane, without a doubt, having played with him for a couple of years and seen how he played on the pitch and dealt with things off it,” Rooney explained. “He was vocal on the pitch and helped me off it. He was a great captain.

“I was lucky enough to play with him and, hopefully, I can gain some of his qualities in my own game. I had a few rollickings off him and we had a few debates. We both wanted to win and sometimes, when you want to win, it’s not always about sitting down and talking quietly.

“You have a go at each other purely to try and get the best out of each other. If you saw the way he was with the other senior players, it was the same as with the younger players.

“He was not afraid to tell everybody how he felt and how he wanted them to perform. He treated everyone the same. He wanted to win and he wanted his team to win. That was a great quality.”

Rooney played alongside the talismanic Keane for just over a season, before the Irishman suddenly left United in the early stages of the 2005/06 campaign. However, Wayne clearly relished his time with the legendary leader.

“I respected him. He was one of the best players in Premier League and Manchester United history.  He is the type of player I like - when he had a go at me, I wanted to show him what I could do. I wasn't fearful. It was about desire and passion.

"I’m not going to change because I’ve got the armband. I’m quite vocal on the pitch. I speak to players and tend to play with determination, which I hope can lift the players and fans. I’ve always tried to help young players.

"It’s a great honour to captain the team and, hopefully, it will be a successful night for us.”

Silvestre: Why I'm back at United

Mikael Silvestre has revealed the motive behind his return to first team training at Carrington, detailing an ambition to sign for another Barclays Premier League side this season.

The French defender, who spent nine trophy-laden seasons with Manchester United from 1999 to 2008, is currently a free agent after his contract with Werder Bremen expired in the summer.

As a result, Sir Alex Ferguson invited Silvestre to the Reds' training facility in order to maintain his health and fitness, joining in with the first team squad on a daily basis.

“I am back to train,” Mikael told MUTV. “I came a few weeks ago and had a chat with the gaffer just before the Capital One Cup game. I said I was coming back to Manchester until Christmas and he said ‘come and train and stay fit until you move to somewhere else’.

“When you are training with the lads you feel like you are still capable of playing in the Premier League. I am fit, that is the main point, and I still have the hunger for the game. So this level is still the level that I am targeting.

“We have always kept in touch. Four years away is really short but it’s nice to see a lot of people and faces that I know. I almost know everybody. There have been some changes but there has been some continuity within the club, I know a lot of people in fact.”

A veteran of over 350 United appearances, Silvestre is a prime candidate to cast an eye over the left-back berth at the Theatre of Dreams. And the Frenchman believes the recent acquisition of Alexander Büttner should inspire competition for places with his compatriot Patrice Evra.

“I only saw the highlights of the game when Alex started and scored. It doesn’t get better than starting at Old Trafford and scoring a goal. Patrice has been there and has been solid in this role, but there hasn’t been any cover for him so he has played a lot of games for United and France.

“It is demanding a lot of him. It is important to keep the players on their toes and to have fresh legs. There are so many games so you need to rotate at some point. Especially because United full backs do not just sit back and defend, they go and attack and provide width too.”

At 35-years-old, the question of what the future might hold for Silvestre remains unanswered, as he considers the different routes and roles available to him within the game. However, with an invested interest in the business world, the ex-Red could yet make a clean break from football.

“I keep thinking about it but I am not sure. Football is my life of course, but I don’t know in which position or area I might stay on, but it is in my mind. I have started a rum business, which is called Rhum St Barth. So I also have this on my mind, as well as football.

“A year and a half ago we started a new brand, a rum business based in St Barth but we are just entering the UK market. In fact I will be in London this weekend at the UK Rum Festival to promote and we are selling in Sweden, in the States and obviously France. We want to go global.”

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe has been charged with drink-driving after a car collided with a van in Greater Manchester.

Mr Tunnicliffe, 19, of Heywood, near Rochdale, was arrested after the crash on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a Range Rover collided with a van in Green Lane, Heywood. The van then collided with the wall of a house.

Mr Tunnicliffe was charged with driving with excess alcohol, Greater Manchester Police said.

He is due to appear at Bury Magistrates Court on 25 October.

Officers said the front seat passenger of the Range Rover suffered a minor whiplash injury in the collision and both vehicles were badly damaged.

The midfielder made his Manchester United debut against Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup last month. He was on loan to Peterborough United last season.
