Malaysia CPO futures tumble to 2-year low

Singapore: Malaysian crude palm oil futures fell more than 5 percent on Monday to a two-year low, hurt by rising palm oil stocks and steep losses in U.S. soybeans on expectations of higher output.

By 0305 GMT, the benchmark November 2012 contract on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange was down 5.4 percent at RM2,615 (US$853) per tonne, a level last seen in September 2010.

China’s Dalian soybean oil market also suffered steep losses.

By 0259 GMT, the most active January 2013 soyoil contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange had lost 3.1 percent. Prices earlier fell to a low of 9,436 yuan per tonne, the lowest since Aug. 6. -- REUTERS
