He leave because he cannot relocate to Nokia home country as he has family commitment and need to remain in UK.

bro you think what he said make sense or not? Due to cant relocated suddenly out of the blue want to quit then also suddenly out of the blue AGAIN joining another company. For yourself do you think does the puzzle make sense? All happen in a sudden all at the same time?

It is not out of the blue, Nokia's recent strategy is to relocate the key roles to Finland. He could not relocate to Finland due to family problem, so he joins Jaguar Land Rover.
I think it makes perfect sense, since he is not joining a competitor company. If he joins Samsung then only I say it doesn't make sense la.

hahaha sifu u are cute if he join samsung then make sense but suddenly announce he quit and suddenly change company that dont make sense. If he take a break then someone offer him yes then that make sense. Just imagine A working in company suddenly quit to join company B something weird right? Whatever reason the company giving.

Maybe he disagree with nokia direction and decided to accept a better offer possible too right?

Look, Nokia was moving a lot of their critical operations to Finland and the guy didn't want to relocate his family to Finland. It happens to a lot of people. There is nothing to be worried about. He also mentioned that he's not the only guy responsible for the Pureview and the remaining team members should be able to innovate

Logically Nokia probably has planned to relocate for some time now and let their employees or key people know in advance about it. The reason is they would want to know the cost of relocation, and also to be fair to their employees. No companies would suddenly decide "Oi everyone we are changing office. Next week! To another country! And you all better come with us!"

My point is he surely knew about the relocation quite some time back and has planned to look for another job because it's not possible for him to follow Nokia. Now that he got another job waiting for him, he announced his resignation. Move on, nothing to see here.

How you twist left or right or support whoever you as a customer got cheated by getting late news because your action of purchasing product is from the research team that creates the technology is like apple now without steve jobs notice their direction now.

Anyway sifu you notice above its more like you copy paste from what he said then u retype it your way. In business perspective they need you but sadly they not paying you.

Like you said if he already planned or decided leaving he would able to share with people so your decision in buying the product get optimized just imagine if his heart is not in nokia anymore there always a probability the result of his research wont be at of his best so since the device is out you notice the imaging is average.

I know fanboys will flame me because i dont support it blindly but for your info i am a pureview fan but the 920 camera is bad real bad. Like u said no companies do that on a sudden so means they know it all along and the fool is the customers because the truth is hidden away and reveal suddenly.

Anyway my intention is not to create fanboyism but just sharing for discussion sake as a 3rd party because i am disappointed that pureview is come to an end from a great person like damien.

Too much heroism created to hype up with Dining's leaving I guess, which I found it awkward.

First, Pureview phase 1 was not created by Damian Dining.
Secondly, PureView phase 2 was also not created by Damian Dining.
Get it?
He's only the head of imaging department, whom only responsible to share his core experiences to his subordinates, correct and redirect them into correct path when (IF) they are heading to wrong direction.

In PureView case, Damian Dining was not the creator, perhaps his contribution was only - he approved it, which can help them to get the proposed concept done.
Like what Dining said, he always feel ashame for getting too much marketing love from the world because he is NOT the only one who created success on Nokia's imaging standard.

I feel sad for Dining's resignation because I love his enthusiasm toward mobile photography, but personally feel that it won't be any political issues that forced him to resign, it's just out of no choice because of relocation strategies.
Somehow I respect him even more because he weight his family more than his hobby, he's a great father and husband. Salute.
