Okay this is really weird. Yesterday using WiFi and playing continuously I managed to get 14 hours before the phone's battery dropped to 50%.

But at night after I fully charged the phone, then went to sleep for just 5 hours, it dropped from 100% to 68%. shocking.gif

Now your Lumia 920 is still a new toy for you all... so probably hands will be quite itchy to play with it quite often which leads to poor battery life. Maybe after you starting to get bored with it, you will notice that the battery actually quite lasting  biggrin.gif

The strange thing is that the battery was dropping faster when I wasn't touching it. rclxub.gif

Anyway I've just disabled these Background Tasks (Settings->Applications), not sure if they're affecting the battery:
- Battery Level for WP8
- Nokia Drive+ Beta

i checked if battery life 100 percent means estimated time remaining 17 hours . is this true ? or else ?
*
I ignore that because it's calculated on current usage. If you suddenly start playing games or do a lot of surfing on 3G, the time will be different.

My 920's been connected to 2G/WiFi for 3 hours since last charge, still 100% with light usage. hmm.gif

Seems like disabling background tasks may really have helped.

I'm not sure. If I unlock the screen and tap the status bar, I do see the WiFi icon there.

I think Portico isn't available for all regions yet. Which is a bit disappointing because one of the supposed advantages of Windows Phone 8 is that it shouldn't have these fragmented issues like Android.

Oh I see that would be better. Btw other than backupmydata is there other way of backing up?

Oh and do you guys where screen protector? If no, no scratch?  unsure.gif
*
I don't like casings or screen protectors. My black Lumia 920 is naked and I prefer it that way. biggrin.gif

I always love my phones.. better give it some protection while it's still new..  smile.gif

I know protection is good, but I don't want to hide the look of the L920. The phone is quite large already, if I add casing it'll be even thicker.

Anyway here's my game themed homescreen:

nice 1 how you do that? biggrin.gif

There is this free app called Wiztiles recommended a few days ago. I used that to customize my homescreen.

Gorilla glass should be awesome, my iPhone 4 has been naked for 2 year and still no scratch.
No so sure about corning gorilla glass though. Just being protective.
*
The front of my iPhone 4 has no scratch also, and I've not been using a casing for it for a long time too. However the back glass of my iPhone 4 has lots of scratches. I'm not too worried about the 920's back though - the polycarbonate should make any scratches hard to see.

White and Black is too common. Yes getting Lumia we should be interested in thise striking colours instead.
A lot of people where like wow, what the hell is with the yellow colour. People are surprised and they liked it.
At least my friends that is.

If the yellow and red 920s were using matte surface I would probably have gotten one of them. I wish Nokia had released the gray and cyan variants here too. My N9 is Cyan and I love the colour and matte finish.

So I've been using the phone for 5 days. Everything's fine except for 1 crucial element - SEARCH.

I don't know why Microsoft hasn't implemented Universal Search on the device yet. If I want to find a contact I have to do 3 steps - Open the People Hub, swipe to All tab, then search.

And if I want to search for a music by typing part of its name - IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! I really have no idea why there is no way to filter/search for music except by the 1st letter.

I also hardly use the Bing physical search key, since Google's search results are still way better.

I don't know if this is a licensing issue (because Apple owns a Universal Search patent) or if Microsoft's really that daft. If it's a licensing issue, they should just pay for the damn license.

I can't find a way to search my SMS messages, and no luck finding any app the Malaysia store to do it. sad.gif

On the bright side I found apps to search music and do T9 dialing.

Only issue I have had so far with the phone is the battery drain I experienced for 1 day. But it was resolved after I disabled all my background tasks. The background tasks were the Battery Level and Nokia Drive apps.

Actually I was pleasantly surprised that the Sirim stickers came off a lot easily on my black 920 than on my N9.

USB transfer is one of the main reasons why I switched from iPhone to WP8. No more iTunes hell. smile.gif

agree!! One tip, dun dll the battery notification app!! Really drain alot out of your l920.. I've been using for 5 days... The battery life really improve after a few days.. Now it can last around 1 1/2 days on normal usage happy.gif
*
The battery notification app is the Battery Level app? If so I agree that the background process for that app sucks battery life incredibly fast. I still have Battery Level installed but have disabled the background task.

Hotmail is the first email service I used. The look and feel was upgraded to the Outlook design a few months ago. I like it, looks clean and nicer than Gmail's.

Windows Phone will be able to support IMAP for Gmail.

Microsoft 'disappointed' by Google's Exchange ActiveSync decision, pledges support for IMAP

However Contacts/Calendar may not be synced because they're not under IMAP.

Microsoft should use an open protocol like CardDAV. Apple uses it on iPhone and it allows iOS users to sync with GMail Contacts/Email/Calendar.

Experienced the first random reboot since I bought the phone in December. Happened while I was surfing the People's Hub and with poor connection on a moving LRT train.
