TS, how much money can you put down for down payment? So much easier to calculate based on what you can afford rather than throw a bunch of cars out there for you to select. Work it out based on how much down payment you can give and we'll be able to select a bunch of cars that's available to you within that 1k monthly installment you can make.

The real cost comes when u need to replace parts thru wear & tear. I spent about RM 12K on UMW servicing and minor part replacements for my 2003 Vios until i sold it this year. And i didnt have any major part replacement except the shock absorbers which i did on my own outside. I was very lucky that all my major parts lasted this long maybe because it was the 1st gen Vios which many say was among the best built.

So a majority of that RM12K which i spent was on normal and major servicing. This isnt all that cheap if you ask me and this too for only a entry level Vios 1.5E. Costs have increased much more now as compared to back then and if you go with a Conti then be prepared to spend much more.

Okay lah, still sounds more or less reasonable. I doubt the new Vios would differ much since the engine and tranny is basically the same as the old Vios. They even use the same 1NZ-FE engine in the latest Japanese Corolla Axio that was just released in Japan this year tongue.gif

IIRC, Your service should only cost about RM150+ for mineral oil and nearly RM300 if it's Synthetic. When I had my Vios, I only did the servicing once every 10k which means I would go into the service center like twice a year.

The 2nd year major service should cost around RM1.2k at best if include air cond service and brake pads replacement. Tyres around Rm160 ~ Rm200 per piece. Total also: RM640 ~ RM800 along with additional balancing and alignment if you replace all 4 tyres.

So tyres should cost you about RM3200 alone if you change every 2 years
Servicing (non-major): (RM300* 2 times per year * 4 years)+(RM300 x 1 time every major service year x 4 years): RM3600
Servicing (major + brake pad replacement + aircond): RM1200 x 4years: Rm4800
Battery Replacement (probably every 3 years): RM170 x 2 = RM340
