Hi munif,

Ok, true..I have mentioned earlier some of the details but I'll follow your template as it seems more clearer and they are as per below:

Usage: Mostly highway driving from Cyberjaya to Damansara
Car Size: Does not matter but Fiesta is the smallest I'll go Swift is quite small
Boot: Medium size is fine..as long bigger than my Naza Suria should avoid hatchback
FC: must be good Forte 2.0 & Inspira are quite bad
Resale value: important but do understand brands like Ford and Kia are picking up smaller car has better resale value
Interior quality: must be solidly built and feel premium Inspira & Lancer feel quite cheap inside
Handling: must be good, I don't like wobbly drive..like when i tested my friend's Vios(all over the place) all 6 options are quite OK

Safety Features: important, bcuz long distance driving and when raining. Inspira and Swift has least safety features
Goodies: must have GPS touch screen, leather seats Only Forte & Inspira has GPS & leather seat

GUYS ALSO, I do appreciate the enthusiasm but NO NEED to argue/debate about torque, turbo lag, etc...i understand you guys are passionate but in the end, we are all here to just share thoughts on what is worth our money and which car to get..not to just help me but also OTHERS that are thinking of buying a new car.

regards,

Rudy Z

I can give you 6 options. The car that doesn't fit your requirement from my options is marked with red in your post above. I think you should consider Forte since it fits most of your requirement.

My ranking based on the above criteria would be:

Usage: (City drive / long distance highway)
Swift;Fiesta;City;Preve;Forte;Inspira

Car size: (Bigger / smaller)
Inspira;Preve;Forte;City;Fiesta;Swift

Boot: (required / not required)
Preve;Forte;Inspira;City;Fiesta;Swift

Fuel Consumption: (must be good / don't really care)
Fiesta;City;Swift;Preve;Inspira;Forte

Resale value: (must be good / don't really care)
City;Swift;Fiesta;Inspira;Forte;Preve (My guess only)

Interior quality: (must feel premium / don't really care)
Forte;City;Preve;Fiesta;Swift;Inspira

Handling: (must be good / don't really care)
Swift;Fiesta;Inspira;Preve;City;Forte (all are quite good actually)

Safety features: (more is better / don't really care)
Fiesta;Forte;Preve;City;Inspira;Swift

Goodies: (more is better / don't really care)
Forte;Preve;Fiesta;Inspira;Swift;City

Since you are doing a lot of highway driving, FC won't be as bad as city driving for Forte & Inspira.

For me... i have same dillemma like you too. But in the end i choose PC after test drive tons of cars.

With your budget. You can get more than 10 types of car and depends what you want and need in the end. I recommend test drive all the car and choose one which fits u best.

In my opinion, if you can wait that is,, Prius C is a good choice as 100% not made in Malaysia and rank high in safety feature as one of the VSC with 7 Airbag. Credit also go to Elantra for this tech. google it up and u see how safe it is with VSC system in place.

Not only that PC is the best in MPG as it can go 51 MPG in city driving as you drive in city. Test drive it first. I can safety say its more powerful than Vios and good at FC + safety feature.

Downside its small, so if you use it for second car and you dont mind small car. I think its a good car to drive around town as easy to park as well.

But then it all down to your preference. Ford Fiesta is not bad as well . With Kia K3 arriving soon. If you can wait , maybe test drive it and maybe you like it more. ^^ .

Prius C is not that small, actually it is quite spacious compared to Swift and even the Fiesta, the boot is also quite big considering it is a hatchback.

Safety features is top notch, handling wise is ok but still not as good as Fiesta and Swift, comparable to Forte. Fuel consumption is great but the difference in highway driving is not really mind blowing. Prius C's superior FC is really a big advantage in the city stop and go traffic where normal car just burns fuel without making any progress, especially the bigger engined cars.

This is what I did with my 2.5L BMW, 90% highway at 110-120kmh.

Big engined car usually has no problem cruising at highway speed, only when there is a traffic jam or stop and go traffic the fuel consumption will fall off the cliff. Prius C on the other hand can get minimum 17 km/l almost everytime regardless how you drive.Normally it hovers around 19-21 km/l.

Always use L/100km for any discussions regarding fuel consumption. Its really pointless using money.

Fuel consumption is really more influenced by the way you drive. You can have the best power to weight ratio and still rake up high fuel bills just by driving un-economically. Thats why i think this discussion on fuel consumption is actually quite redundant.

There are some Kia Optima K5 owners which have achieved a range of 905km with 63L of fuel driving at 110kmph on 100% highway. That's about 7L/100km which is quite good since the K5 is a heavy car and considered underpowered. But there are others who get far less economical readings.

On my previous Vios, ive achieved 6.7L/100km on 100% highway at about 120kmph and 7.5L/100km in 100% city driving. But ive also obtained far less economical readings during hard driving.

What is it pointless using money when discussing fuel consumption? Is it because you don't know how to calculate? Afterall, it is pointless talking about fuel consumption if you don't know how much money will be saved by using a more fuel efficient car.

Rm 50 Ron95 can go for 330 - 350km.

RM50 / RM1.90/L = 26.3 L
26.3L / 330km * 100 = 7.97 L/100km
100/7.97 = 12.5 km/L
