Hi guys,

I know its another pls help me decide kind of topic. But I'm lookin to buy a new car and would like sifus here opinions.
Currently i'm willing to pay up till RM1k for monthly..but I am as well considering the maintenance issues and fuel consumption, etc.

Do note, in terms of investment in property and future, I am quite secured. Thus my priority is my car as my working place is about 30km from my office(damansara) and I use the MEX highway a lot.

My top choices now are
1. Ford Fiesta XTR
2. Ford Ranger
3. Kia Forte 1.6 SX or 2.0
4. Hyundai Elantra
5. Honda City

Please advise and I'm open to any other suggestions or comments.
In addition, my current car the Naza Suria is having high mileage and in order to save it, the new car will by my daily driver and my Naza Suria will b used for driving around in short distances.

Thanks guys! Hope ppl can help me out

Hi Stix,

Thanks for the reply...currently i got a deal for the 1.6 SX with touch screen GPS headunit and leather seats as an upgrade, plus the Fiesta XTR also had a good deal from salesman..

However, after reading forums and the Ford page on fb, the Fiesta had some gear issues due to the nature of the dual clutch and ppl were complaining about the after service at Ford.

Nonetheless, I do love the Fiesta bcuz of the handling and features offered. I'm just worried my car is gonna b in the workshop a lot, bcuz this future car would b really important for my daily use.

Hopefully anyone using Fiesta or other Ford models can help here too

Hi guys,

I'm really appreciating the replies and your opinions. No offence to the national brands, but i'm not intending to buy a P1 or P2.

To answer some of your questions, I'm working in the advertising/industry whereby we work a lot of late hours like till 12am, 5am oso got...thus I can get let's say around RM300-RM1k a month just on overtime plus allowances.

I'm also a fresh grad but my pay is considered good already for a fresh grad plus I'm really grateful that my parents have bought me a 2-storey terrace house in Ampang..thus in terms of property investment, i'm covered. Also I don't waste my disposable income on drinking, shopping, etc...I'm a very simple person that always go value for money. I'm not buying a nice car bcuz to show off but it's bcuz of my job as we have to travel a lot like meeting clients, go to photoshoot, etc.

I just need a car that is fast, good build quality(no rattling noise when langgar roadbump, minor potholes), good resale value so I can sell in 4-5 years time for bigger car. I do understand that Kia and Ford aftersales can improve after the Forte and Fiesta, thus I'm optimistic. This future car is really important to my job.

I do agree with cokelatpanda...B segment might be enuf as the Forte and Elantra are under C segment(do correct me if i'm wrong) bcuz I'm still young and not planning on getting married/have a family in a long time.

maybe narrowing it down now to Ford Fiesta XTR, Honda City, and maybe the Forte too bcuz I'm gettin a good offer with the GPS touch screen and leather seats

I'm aware as well that the new Forte(K3) is coming out soon..but it will probably reach our shores by end of next year or 2014..thus, buying Forte now should be ok.

I just need a car soon, my Naza Suria ady making noise..really kesian her, hehe

Added on September 5, 2012, 11:20 amHi Xeda,

I appreciate your opinion and thanks for the idea, will try and get an Inspira test drive this weekend. How's the build quality and can add touch screen GPS? GPS important for me as I'm travelling a lot to places I'm not familiar to during tv commercial shoots, etc...

Furthermore, I want it built-in to the car so it's much safer..i think, please do advise

Hi guys,

Thanks again for the replies. Fiesta would be useful as it's nimble and agile(really my style of driving), does not have to be super fast just agile and balanced.

But now Xeda is really giving me a thought as the Inspira is quite worth it. with the amount of features and space.

Hi munif,

Ok, true..I have mentioned earlier some of the details but I'll follow your template as it seems more clearer and they are as per below:

Usage: Mostly highway driving from Cyberjaya to Damansara
Car Size: Does not matter but Fiesta is the smallest I'll go
Boot: Medium size is fine..as long bigger than my Naza Suria
FC: must be good
Resale value: important but do understand brands like Ford and Kia are picking up
Interior quality: must be solidly built and feel premium
Handling: must be good, I don't like wobbly drive..like when i tested my friend's Vios(all over the place)

Safety Features: important, bcuz long distance driving and when raining.
Goodies: must have GPS touch screen, leather seats

GUYS ALSO, I do appreciate the enthusiasm but NO NEED to argue/debate about torque, turbo lag, etc...i understand you guys are passionate but in the end, we are all here to just share thoughts on what is worth our money and which car to get..not to just help me but also OTHERS that are thinking of buying a new car.

regards,

Rudy Z

Forte K3 releasing in Korea around end of year or by early next year according to my uncle working in Seoul.

Thus, as usual..would be reaching our shores by end of 2013 or 2014...since i urgently need a new car by this month, Forte still a viable option. but nonetheless, will test drive the inspira and fiesta this saturday.

The Forte, my colleague got one and drove around just now during lunch...like the feeling of the interior for its price and the updated GPS touch screen, with the free bodykit some more..looks like an impressive deal

haish, maybe it's just bad timing for me to buy a new car..if buy forte now, 2014 new model comes out here..if i wana sell in 4-5 years, i wonder what's the value to trade-in..if around 40k still acceptable, but got feeling around 20k..can anyone predict? i doubt but pls do if u know some info

Good morning my fellow helpful forumers,

I met up with a friend yesterday who studied automotive engineering and worked with Mazda, VW, Honda and Toyota. He was giving me a suggestion of getting a pre-reg Polo Sport for under 100k..I'm willing to fork out RM10k downpayment, so my loan for the Polo would probably b around 80-90k..but interest rate could be from 2.5% to 3.5%..

He still has friends at VW and knows a few of the sales ppl there too..currently scouting for the Polo Sport for me..also he was sayin 'If you get a pre-reg Polo S, in few years time if you want to change to a Golf, it's easier to trade in since your a VW customer already'

Anyways, what do you guys think?

yea, the Polo 1.2 TSi, depends if my friend can scout for me a pre-reg one..he sed should be around RM90k..so if i put 10k downpayment, so loan around 80k, just that the interest rate would b higher since its pre-reg unit

That's very true, really appreciate you guys pointing out on this..Polo service interval around 15k KM and cost around RM500-600. Road tax is cheap but anyone know abt the insurance for the Polo S TSi?

But still I'm goin to discuss with my parents n close friends abt this too..bcuz now what I'm worried abt the Forte is the resale value since the new one is out soon...even i just saw Fiesta spyshots of the next gen model... sad.gif

haish, got so many points here that are very true..mayb should just wait till new year and see any new models coming...save more money for downpayment, so lower loan.

TS, how much money can you put down for down payment? So much easier to calculate based on what you can afford rather than throw a bunch of cars out there for you to select. Work it out based on how much down payment you can give and we'll be able to select a bunch of cars that's available to you within that 1k monthly installment you can make.

Prices calculated ±RM200 range of your Installment of RM1000 per month.

I'm only calculating based on non national C segment class of cars only. Not 100% accurate but should be good enough.

Pick your poison below:

Below RM1000

KIA Forte 1.6SX
About: RM860 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Around RM1000

KIA Forte 2.0SX
About: RM1000 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Hyundai Elantra 1.6 High spec
About: RM1000 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Peugeot 308 VTi
About: RM1050 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Mazda 1.6GL Sedan
About: RM1100 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Above RM1100 to RM1210

Honda Civic 1.8
About: RM1200 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Mazda 1.6GL Hatchback
About: RM1150 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Nissan Slyphy Comfort
About: RM1200 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Hyundai Elantra 1.8 Premium
About: RM1200 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Peugeot 408 2.0s
About: RM1150 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Toyota Altis 1.8E
About: RM1200 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Ford Focus Baseline Model (estimated)
About: RM1200 per month with 10k downpayment for 9 years at 2.45% per annum

Thanks so much! but yea i understand the pricing here is a rough estimate..nowadays lots of promos and discounts, for other ppl in the same dilemma as me..it is really advisable to go test drive and ask for promos, discoutns, etc
