For the past few years, I have been using IBM laptops for my work which requires me to do a lot of traveling, first with a T40, then to a T41.

Thus far, I've been very impressed (almost amazed) with its durability, reliability and more importantly, its stability.

Currently, I'm looking for an IBM laptop for my wife who is venturing into her own business.

Therefore, I would like to have your feedbacks on whether the T42 or the T43 represents better value for money. I hear the T42 goes for about RM5k+ while the T43 cost RM8k+. Is the T43 worth the extra $$$?

Also, I don't find many shops around carrying IBMs, so I'd appreciate any suggestions as to where I can get a good deal for either of these models.

Thank you.

House of notebook do carry it. If your wife will have a lot of traveling, why not look for x series or z series?

I just got a T43 yesterday. I wouldn't say the laptop design is really beautiful but it's really practical. It has a magnesium body and is quite light. I'd recommend anyone to buy one!

Thanks for the suggestions.

The X series are great but I need to use the DVD drive often and am not too keen about having to lug around the docking port around or having the device linked via cable.

Now, the new Z series was a tough choice. But I went to Lowyat on Sat and saw it for the 1st time. Unfortunately, the new screen design doesn't quite appeal to me.

So the T series, it still is.

Yup, I agree with you on the design. But then again, IBMs are never about looks and frills. They are very reliable machines, totally built like a tank and it will go the distance.

Congrats on your purchase! What are your specs. and how much did you get it for? I understand Lenovo is giving a free 2nd Li-on battery for purchases of T43s recently. Did you get that?
