POLICE and emergency services made “strenuous attempts” to deflect the blame for the Hillsborough disaster onto innocent fans, an independent panel revealed today.

The explosive report found that police failed to protect the 96 victims who died – and then tried to blame Liverpool supporters for the tragedy.
Today the Prime Minister David Cameron said: “The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.”
