On another note:
It seems that even when L gear gives me better vacuum reading, the km/l and fuel flow rate does not reflect the same. In fact the fuel flow rate is slightly increased when in L (running richer) for the same throttle position. I am guessing that's the torque-based ECU at work. In that case, the vacuum meter is no longer a reliable indicator if the amount of fuel is less dependent on the manifold air flow. I will be monitoring the instant km/l and fuel flow rate instead, since they get their readings from the injectors, it's suppose to be as accurate as it gets. |

QUOTE(iskazulka @ Sep 6 2012, 12:30 PM) My 2 sen, the way it is installed on 911's car, the oil vapour will enter the OCT from ABOVE the filter. The filter will still stop the oil from entering the manifold directly, but as the oil accumulates gravity will pull the condensed oil to the chamber BELOW the filter, and be sucked back into the manifold. That's the theory la. |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Sep 6 2012, 12:30 PM) On new EFI engine, fuel supply is cut on downhill. It doesn't burn lean, there's just simply nothing to burn. The combustion chamber temperature should not rise excessively just because of downhill high vacuum reading. If the fuel injection is cut off, it should be reflected on the fuel flow rate right? For carburettor engine, the lean burn may occur. Disengaging the gear on EFI engine will cause fuel to be injected again during downhill, wasting some fuel. From Toyota: http://forum.diyefi.org/download/file.php?...a086b&mode=view Need to see if that's true |

Bad news for lhwj is, my FLX CVT did not cut off fuel injectors when engine braking downhill.
Even worse news for FLX CVT owners is that the fuel flow actually INCREASE with the RPM as you engine brake downhill. I dunno if the same applies to manual and FL/ BLM, though. This post has been edited by dares: Sep 6 2012, 04:10 PM |
