as far as i know :
Y400 - 14.1 inch screen, no numpad, 1 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0, doesn't include external ultrabay GPU & 170W adapter when purchased (sold separately), thus it's cheaper than Y500  tongue.gif
Y500 - 15.6 inch screen, got Full HD screen variant, got numpad, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0 (correct me if i'm wrong), larger air intake than Y400 (provide better cooling performance), external ultrabay GPU & 170W adapter included, thus it's more expensive than Y400  tongue.gif

hehe..any additional info? sorry ya, i only owns Y400 GT750M  brows.gif

Thanks for the lengthy reply, I guess being involved in the multimedia industry I do require some big screen (perhaps a 24' - 27' screen) so I think the 15.6 inch screen will certainly helped a lot for my work and gaming needs. laugh.gif

Y500 also have better build quality than Y400, imo.

What's with this Maxwell eh? Any brief intro before I do a google search? sweat.gif

I'm having some problem deciding whether to replace my current laptop that I borrowed from my brother with a desktop or a laptop.

Currently this Acer laptop fits my need just ngam ngam but when it comes to my gaming needs, it somehow lacks behind. (520M lol) That's why it's hard to decide between desktop or laptop now. doh.gif

I think this way...

There is always a new generation of GPUs and processors coming out.

For sure you wait until you die also got new one.

So buy when you think the time is right, and of course buy when you need  icon_rolleyes.gif

ahh okay then, red an article, got the idea,

10 days standby time
longer lasting battery due to less power consumption
performance upgrade
benefit for Ultrabook

This haswell really good but we probably have to wait a year or more to get the actual thing then again by the time you get your hands on the machine they'd probably introduce another new CPU family, technology. doh.gif

Just wanted to ask, is it true that the new ideapad Y410 and Y510 will be released next month? Apparently it uses the same configuration (design + features including ultrabay) as the current Y500 and uses a dual 750m as well.
The added feature will be that it will be using the Haswell chip instead of the current one. Source:
