I don't think there will be a FreeDOS version anytime soon, the normal variant also not yet out.

QUOTE(storm88 @ May 7 2013, 11:22 AM)
Hello guys,

I recheck the info given by lenovo last week and found i made some mistake.

here's the correction (Color of red is the corrected area):

Y500 SLI model + DVDRW (New SKU)
I7 3630QM, 8G DDR3 1600MHZ, GT750M (built in), 1TB HDD, 15.6" FHD, 120W+170W, GN37 SLI ADAPTER, ULTRABAY DVDRW SRP: RM3899

Y500 Basic Varient(New SKU)
I7 3630QM, 8G DDR3 1600MHZ, GT750M (built in), 1TB HDD, 15.6" FHD, 120W ULTRABAY DVDRW SRP: RM2999

The Y500 with RM3799 price tagging is the previous model which i have found i have been mistaken.
Now all above given infos are triple checked and confirm Valid by official

Sorry guys for the wrong info given earlier
*
1)So now there is only 2 variants in instead of 3?
2)Did you manage to fish out when will it arrive stock in MY?

Basically the whole point of getting a Lenovo Y500/400 is because you want a gaming monster but you have a tight budget, so things like disabled Nvidia Optimus, heating problems, touchpad faultiness is expected, if you want to get a proper gaming laptop, your budget must be at least RM6000, you guys better look elsewhere rather than the Y series of Lenovo. brows.gif Just sharing my thoughts. whistling.gif

sigh, have been waiting for the Y500 for the past month and until now still havent launch in MY.  shakehead.gif

already got the budget got Y500

Wondering should I just get a Y400 and then use the remaining budget to do the upgrade ?

Any advice from all the sifus here? unsure.gif

Now, lemmie do a price breakdown for you here, assuming that we're comparing both the w8 model not FreeDOS
Y400, i7-3630QM, GT750M(GDDR5)@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, red backlit, 120w psu, ODD (swappable), 2 yrs warranty
+RM229 (170 w Adapter)+ RM 99 (Good RAM Card)+ RM580 (GT750m graphics assuming that it is the same price) = it adds up to RM3707

Next we take the
Y500, i7-3630QM + GT750M(GDDR5) + 1920x1080@RM3899, 8GB , 1TB , W8, red backlit, swappable GN37 exGPU & ODD, 120w+170w psu, 2 yrs = RM3899

The difference between these is RM192 more for a
1) larger screen
2) more storage space
3) less likely heating problems
4) most likely resolved touchpad problems

All for an extra price of RM192, I'd think the verdict is clear here. blush.gif

get the single GT750M version 1st. when you have the budget, then only get larger AC adapter and GN37 exGPU.

GT650M SLI is can bottleneck your gaming experience if new games are released.

Huh? The GT650M SLI was one of the most sought after gaming laptop tongue.gif Of course can't compare with the Y580 FHD GTX660M @ RM2.9k RSP spec, but still pretty hot.

Am just glad now that the latest Y500 will come with both GT750M and GT750M SLI spec. More choices are always better for consumers  thumbup.gif
*
Lol the Lenovo shop fella said that most of the customers looking for the Y580 instead of the 500

Y500 with SLI is not available yet he say, and "dunno when will come"(his exact words)
Only the Y500 with the ODD is available at RM3099.

I din check upstairs with Thundermatch and other stores though, I'd just went straight for the Official Lenovo reseller only

You got yours from them as well?
And do you upgrade anything from them??

Anyway, thank for info provides bro =)
*
No probs, The only thing I'd upgraded is my warranty from 2 to 3 years (RM150). Hardware upgrades no. Yep I got it from them, Since they're the official reseller for Lenovo (PC3) at the Lenovo webpage.
