wait for my 3dmark result, i installed  310.54 and lets see how ,testing now

now i m doing my 3d mark 11 test, for those people having problem  like cant open or install  any  exe  in win8(wermgr, exe)problem , i found the problem  here, this happened  because i open and using 搜狗拼音，since i closed and hide it , everything  is going fine ,google got more detail about this, i spent 2 hour in google to check how to fix this problem, but i still failed to do so, at last , i typed in chinese in 为什么出现wermgr. exe win8,i found that  a lot people which using 搜狗拼音having  the some problem  with  me ,搜狗拼音 is the major  problem  which causing this ~

yah sure..i'm done tested fps on nfsmw and assasin creed 3 on v306.00..and the result is 
now i gladly hear that fps can be increasing by updating driver version

will test again
please reconfirm what is the current version, so i can make a test

You can still upgrade(SSD, RAM, etc) the Y500 in the future.
But you can't do anything to improve the gaming performance on the Y580. Except by overclocking.

Just have to wait for more review on the gaming performance and gaming stability of the GT650M SLI.
Whether the improvement over the GTX660M is worth it or not.

The SLI scalling is very much depend on how well the drivers optimization. If SLI for GT650M is supported by Nvidia site, always use the latest drivers ie 310.64.

IMO, its quite worth it for Y500 with
- swappable ultrabay with different options to suit user needs, ie. ODD, HDD, fans, bluray, even additional battery in future if there are demand.
- swap it with additional battery and bring 120W psu(optional) when you needs mobility. swap with GT650M and use 170W psu when you needs extra horse power at home.
- better design/build & bling-bling Red backlit keyboard
- better cooling system & easy maintenance

nsfmw ,assasin creed 3 should get around 30-40 fps in gt650m sli(ultra+1920*1080}
and dun forget to check whether you enable ur sli or not
propeties -nvdia control-set sli and physx
and you will get this

of course,if after doing all this things,but u re still having lower fps ,you can try to dowload 310.54 to see whether it work or not,hopefully yes~
i have to make myself clear,i always  think that driver from lenovo is only to make sure that our system can recognize the gt650m sli,but we still have to keep our driver up to date
think about it, need for speed most wanted released in 30 oct 2012,assasins creed 3 released in 23 november
but the driver we are using which is 306.00 ,was released on august,another way to say that,our driver are too old for those new games.
of course ,this is only what i think ,better wait for confirmation from lenovo

I love the Y500 design. But you are spending RM800 more.
Suppose you get the Y580. What you can do with RM800:
buy a SSD and swap with HDD, buy a caddy for the HDD and swap with ODD, buy more RAM, upgrade warranty to 3 year on site, buy a cooling pad.
You get a machine that lose out in raw GPU power, less vow factor.
You get a machine that boot faster, run apps much snappier, with better warranty support, and never need to deal with SLI.
Not a bad trade-off. My hands is getting itchy, but Y500 is not a blow out winner over Y580.

And no, to get the SLI working, both GPU must be same model. This is as good as it get. You will not be able to get a "better" ultrabay GPU next time.

i never installed any driver yet on lenovo sites
do i need to install all the driver since i checked on driver manager my driver are all up to date.

there is a sli problem issue  in nfsmw, as you can see from  the link, gtx680m *3and gtx 690*2 are having  only 30fps, but single  gpu run around 60,so i m sure that single gt650m will run better then dual gt650m in nfsmw

bro, unfortunately, the 3 game  you tested  are not supported by sli yet, nfsnw will get low bad fps if you run it in sli  according  to here

so gt650m single will run better  then dual gt650 in this  game
the fps u are having  in assasins  creed 3 should  be good enought in sli
because  there is also have sli problem  issue in assasin creed 3,fps will drop by 2-5 in sli compare  to single  gpu according  to here

you can test on some sli supported game such as crysis 2,battlefield 3,cod 9

1)What are the caveats of having the SLI??

I'm sorry for seeming ignorant but I've read thru this post and I know there's a problem but I cant seem to pinpoint it somehow.. 

2)Already kinda made up my mind to get this beastly machine next week so I was wondering if I should get it from jayacom or devour? Any kind person mind linking his profile here?
