It works just like a hybrid HDD.
The most recent programs will have faster start up time and responses as the m-sata SSD saves the cache of it.

Well, why don't just get a larger capacity m-sata SSD, transfer the OS and software into it instead of use it as a cache SSD?

tomb raider pushed my y500 to 85 degree..yikes

i using paragon sofware..so far so good..fast boot using win8

mSATA can't do caching and direct storage at the same time.

i can't brain this 

do you even know what is caching? Caching is just taking the files you always use and put it into the msata. e.g . OS files for faaster boot up

while installing the OSin there is just installing the OS in there, so much faster boot up compared to caching and if you have a msata with big storage then you can even install games and all with this method

but if you have cash to spare better get the 256gb msata and install os inside it.

In india there are Y500 models comes with Faulty Elan touchpad. All the stock shows Made in China on the machine. But as i heard from this blog China models comes with synaptics one. Could you pls share the details of the box sticker or image of it so i can able to compare both models indian as well as yours. pls help.

well, to avoid dust,just stored it inside a bag or sumething...im plan to vacum clean it every month...see how first
practically,i didnt care much the i7 temp,because i knew it is durable.
in other hand, quite worried for the gc temp...scared need to RMA so soon
