Which baby u having? If it is the first one and no tear, no episiotomy, then he is really good...Usually the first one will need episiotomy. Episiotomy is not a bad thing actually, it ensures the baby comes out easily and the tear will not be so 'messy' if u know what I mean. And it is not painful cause u won't feel any pain other than the contraction pain. More over the doctor will apply LA before cutting.

no episiotomy for the first vaginal delivery? good is one thing, risking tears then suturing up the tears then charging more is another thing altogether! smile.gif

frequently i hear all these news from patients and relatives that this and that doctor can do this and that, e.g., paralysed patient walking after injection la , after acupuncture la, seemingly miraculous healing after seeing a particular doctor. i sometimes wonder how all these rumours spread? is it because the doctor himself spreads it to create an illusion to increase his business and inflate his ego?

Hi Catherine, this is my first baby! and yes Dr Chuah is very good!  thanks for the info, he explained about episiotomy to me as well.  But still the thought of getting it cut reallly horrify me!! and im really glad i dont have to go through it. sweat.gif

Yes, you are right about the risk of tear.  Dr Chuah told me that there might be tear, from his experience the worse tear is about 2 cm.  I was really afraid of this cutting thing...to cut is definitely happening and episiotomy is at least 5-7 cm?Im not sure but definitely not 2cm right? but if he does not cut, i might not have any tear or a small tear.  So i decided to take his word for it!  Which im glad i did. I have no tear at all!! I could walk without much pain the next day.

Dr Chuah told us he has not done episiotomy for the past 10 years!  I guess with that much experience he should know what he is doing and will not unneccesary put me at risk.

hi alan, thanks for reminding us, i believe there might be doctors like you say.
even my friends also find it hard to believe what i say!! but they believe me because they are my friends! so its up to you whether you believe or not? but what my doctor can do is not miracles like u are referring to...  from what i understand Dr Chuah have not been doing episiotomy for the past 10 years, i feel he should have enough experience and will not be putting his patients at risks.

I have known him for more than a year now, Dr Chuah is a very dedicated doctor with a heart of gold.  He genuinely cares, he is honest and not the type who is after $$$$$.  his business is very good, and he does not need to self promote like what you say , and i think he is so busy he has no time for it as well!

There is always a debate about where to deliver ? Private or government?  Which is better? Anyone has any pinion on this?
*
if you can afford it, private. no debate.
if you cannot afford it, then govt.

msian healthcare is a good , both private and govt. govt hospitals are not at all that bad. some of the best minds in medicine are still in govt service. but bear in mind, the long waiting lists.

No doubt government hospitals have good doctors, if we meet the good ones we are lucky.  But what if we don't? All the stories we heard about government hospitals....only sad ones are told.  How regretful parents feel after something bad happened to their newborn baby, but it's too late!
*
well then how about paying through your nose for a horrible private doctor or lousy private hospital then? never heard? i have. my patients related their pityful stories to me. only govt hospitals got sad stories? private hospitals do have them but probably not told.

patients only die in govt hospitals? patients don't die in private hospitals right? when they are about to die, they get transferred to govt hospitals or some other place.

this is not directed to you only. nothing personal. i'm sorry if i hurt your feelings.
