both are great beginner models. Functions about the same only D3200 have higher pixel count. The D5100 going for bout 2k now in lowyat if not mistaken (LCD great for video if you into videos).

I'm using class 4 with my d5100 no problem for full HD recording. Seems play on your camera its ok but on computer its jerky the video. Maybe its your computer, try in another computer?

OS does, I upgraded to Win8 and suddenly file transfer become super fast via built in card reader on my laptop.

Bro hearing your problem and how it is consistent even when using different PC & OS, I would strongly ask you to take your camera to Nikon service center for professional testing. I'm using the same camera with class 4 sdcard and I have not encountered this problem yet. To me this camera suites me fine and as Apple would say, "It just works". I feel that its either your camera or your sdcard.
