I'm using D3100 atm and thinking of getting a portrait lens. Any recommendation which should I get?

Purpose: top priority is to take figure pictures (like the one above)

Budget: if possible, less than 1k

just a question, how do you guys normally carry your dslr? around neck or over one hand/sling? Or you just hold it with one hand? Going traveling soon, need tips. I'm not comfortable around neck though and I usually just carry it with my right hand (neck strap wrapped ard my hand). But that's not really safe if you're out for long.

I'm using a D7000 + Battery Grip + Tamron 17-50mm... so it is quite heavy after a while..

I did my research and purchased a Custom SLR C-Loop ( http://www.customslr.com/products/c-loop#.UI6ilm_MjEk ) whenever I am using this outdoor...

It is really handy and also easily removed the C-loop whenever I need to put my DSLR on a tripod mounting...

You will not feel the weight at all even after long usage...

Hope this helps...
