Hi guys,

I have been offered an offshore position in SapuraKencana recently, and the position is contract-based for 1 year. This will be my first job since I'm a fresh graduate. May I ask, how likely for sapura to absorb their contract workers as permanent? I'm quite worried as to what will happen after my contract ends.

Thanks.

Sapurakencana is the parent company ...its the subsidiaries that do the work...I'm with TLO btw

Oh. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm with TL Geohydro. I'm quite curious about this geophysics position. From what I know, Sapura is not exactly an exploration company right? So, I guess I want to know about the prospect of being a geophysicist for long term in Sapura. Do they constantly need geophysicist or only for certain period of time when they got project that involves geophysicist?

Here it is called TLGH ..they are doing survey ..Sapurakencana is an EPCIC company..abt the prospect ..they always need geophysicist. TLO is an installation n logistic company so prior to installation TLGH will do survey for them. Project wise no worries ...schedule is already pack for 2013.

I see.. Thanks for the explanation. That sure takes a load off my mind. smile.gif
Another thing is... do most geophysicist in TLGH work on a contract basis?

Hi guys.

I'm a new guy in O&G industry and currently working as geophysicist with main responsibility of processing seismic data until migration and data QC. Most of my work are done by using ProMAX (Landmark Halliburton) software, and sometimes I use SeisVision or Kingdom for data interpretation.

I'm quite curios about the advancement of my career, since I only use ProMax to process seismic data. From what I've known, there are a lot of other processing softwares. Different companies may use different softwares. So, if someday I want to switch to a different company, will it be difficult for me to make the jump if that company does not use ProMax as their processing software?

Thanks. happy.gif

Thanks for the replies.

I'm planning to move to operator someday, and I always wonder whether they have many vacancies for processing geophysicist. But for now, I'm trying to gain as much experience as possible in my current company. My main task is seismic processing but I always work closely with geologist for seismic interpretation and report writing. Hopefully in 2-3 years time I can gain enough experience to jump to operator company.

My company is just a moderate contractor company, not too big, not too small. tongue.gif
