I see. bro kslee, did u study here formerly? and are u attached with a foreign company or a local one?

im very wry for myself cos i want to enter this field of OnG, but it seems the only way to get in is thru petronas, however, usually they give more priority to their scholars, im not one of them, and im also at an disadvantage bcos im not a bumi.

Took some time for me to get back to you. Just got home after a 21-hour flight (from Brazil). Jet lag...
Me? Studied mech engineering in US. Foreign company, actually Baker Hughes. I'm non-bumi. Petronas or in fact any other NOC (nat'l oil companies) or major independents (Shell, BP etc) is not the only game in town. O&G involves a lot of infrastructure constructing, maritime operations and service companies - the scope of field and work is really wide. Don't limit yourself.
I would say, concentrate well on your studies. One of the easiest way to get in is with good grades, well that is aside from knowing people and having connections.

Well,if you're good in academic plus excellent interview skill- that means good in selling yourself. It's companies who are after you.
Can't agree more... on interview skills, it is indeed very important that a candidate project a sense of self-confidence and knowing what he's talking about, and being convicted, having facts and figures to back up a claim, and at least have the integrity to admit that they don't know a certain thing BUT (here's the point) have the initiative to go find out for himself (this you do have to stress out).
I have returned to my university before to conduct industrial round-table and hiring interviews, so take it from me.
