I play time to time. Not regularly as in daily but there are times I just want a quick game and play this instead.

Yup, ballistic is fun again after HSR.
Currently working on my Blackjacks, BJ1, 1DC, BJ3.
They are fast replacing hunchback as my favorite medium mechs.

The BJ1 run with AC/20 and 2 Mlas as pure fire support for brawlers.
1DC is a mini dakka platform with 2 AC2 7ton of ammo(500+ shots) and 6 Slas, usually work as turret or LRMboat escort. great at driving brawlers insane with the constant pingpingpingpingpingpingpingpingping and make they slip up against friendly brawler.
BJ3 is experimenting with 1ERPPC and 4 Mlas for a little poptarding and precision hole poking.

The Olympics idea is good. Can't wait to try again. So many close matches, these two the top! Ahaha Ya, the lag was crazy, wonder how we can survice that until the recent patch which... eliminate all lag... Waaarggh!

my BJ3 with ERPPC is not working out so well.
switch to stock 2LLas and 2Mlas.
Lost 2 point of damage but improve heat management to keep up DPS.

I played Mechwarrior 2 and Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries..

but never played 3...

Anyway, I like small/lightweight mech, something fast and small.

But Before I spend real money on getting a new Mech, weapons and etc... What is your advice? Any input?

Just use trial mech first. Please note that the first 25 matches you will earn more each match, to get your first mech fast, then the c-bills earned after that, ehem, will be much lesser.

Just try first, i just got my Raven for training. Expensive like hell after upgrade (double heatsink etc).

You also playing at night daily?

The Cataphract CTF-4X is the best trial mech right now. Trial mechs will rotate every month.
You will have to grind thru your first 25 matches to earn your cadet bonus, you should end up with atleast 7mil c-bill after 25 matches.
Your cadet bonus will end and you will gain normal c-bill rate on 26th match onward.
7mil should allow you to buy a light mech and upgrade it abit, or an Atlas with no upgrade.

Light cannot survive without speed.
So, most people will install the biggest XL engine they can fit in their chassis.
To free up weight, Endo Steel is a must then Ferro Fibrous if you can spare the slots.

Most people will recommend the Raven 3L and 4X, due their ability to use ECM and amazing speed.
But I feel beginner light pilot should go for the Jenner F or K, they have better armour and comes with jump jets for great mobility.
Ballistic weapon are too hard to use by light mechs away, it very hard to aim when you are going over 100+kph.
This is a good starter build for Jenner K, while you save up 5mil cbill to upgrade to XL 300 engine.

If you see a K2 sniper standing on very high ground sniping with PPC / ERPPC .....that'll be me .

That or the Dual UAC5 Cataphract with 4MLs. I play quite random times though. Maybe I can find u guys on a weekend or something lol.
