They are all official sequels. ST2, ST3 and ST: Invasion are direct-to-video releases, which is why you probably didn't hear of them. I think ST: Invasion is a digital release as well.

The original novel is a lot more darker and hard-hitting than the overall campy feel of the movies. It's actually an intelligent discourse on military power. The novel (published 1959) is actually one of the main reasons powered armor is so popular in science fiction today.

It's also one of the recommended books for US military personnel.

Last night i watched the first Starship Troopers. I lost count how many times i watched it already since it came out on Cinema in 1997. But everytime, this movie managed to take hold of my interest all the way to the end. But less can be said about the 2nd and the 3rd Starship Troopers. Even when i watched the two sequels for the first time, i got bored in the middle of the movies. What is it that make the first Starship Troopers so interesting?

2nd and 3rd is a joke..specially the 3rd..watch liao really go wat dafuq...

I still can't get over the fact Carl turned from a geek into a "jacka**" in ST:I.

The 3rd one was watchable (because of the Marauders units). 2nd one though looks like a cheap porn version.

smile.gif I also like the idea that you don't get to effect the course of your nation's future (i.e. vote or hold public office) if you are not willing to serve (and risk dying) for your country. It's arguable that if such a system were implemented (in reality) the quality of life of the average citizen would improve (non-corruption, decision by leaders made for the greater good of the country/people etc) but at the risk of life becoming more discipline and militaristic.

For some puzzling reason, they decided to bring back the actress for the spaceship captain that died gruesomely from the original movie as an unrelated Mobile Infantry soldier in ST2. I kept thinking why is her face so familiar.

i was like "dafuq have they done to Carl" the moment he confronted Ibanez in taking control of her spaceship, after warm relationship they showed in first installment, its was so sudden to see his attitude changed upside down in Invasion lol.

by the way, any further news bout this plan on making a remake for the 1st one?
