This is GX56 aka King has custom LCD and optical glue treatment done too. Band and bezel changed to mimic the 2014 ICERC Rangeman.

QUOTE(cyew86 @ Sep 16 2019, 11:35 PM) I have a 9 years old Riseman that has seen better days, though it's not in too bad condition considering its years of service. I am considering to service the watch, cosmetically at least, by replacing the scratched crystal and touching up the peeled paint on the button, but I am not sure if such service is available for such an old model, and if it's cost effective (since it cost only RM500 back when I bought it). Anyone with similar experience mind to share with me? Thanks I know a guy in Shah Alam that can do wonderful things with beat up Gshocks.PM me and I'll hook you up. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 10:22 AM) It is a treatment for most tough solar model, which will have fogging due to the gap between glass and solar panel. It is a Casio design flaw that has been going on for years. It's a permanent fix that makes your foggy tough solar Gs looks crystal clear again. QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 12:19 PM) ya sounds like an alternative to hydro modding. Nope, even on a new tough solar watch, with enough moisture it will fog within months. my rangeman is now more than 5yrs...abused in gym quite often...still surviving i would think any fogging is just due to bad o-rings...opening and cleaning then proper re-seal should work just as good. This layer is not inside the module hence it is not protected properly against it. It is just glued on top of the module. Hydro mod is not a permanent fix, where this is. QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 12:37 PM) ya, but the 'danger' i see with this is...say if the o-ring fails...u have no idea if moisture has entered the watch since u cant see the LCD fogging. Of course you can see, if you see fogging that means it's the module that's has moisture in it and not the layer between glass and solar panel. in the end would cause more damage to the movement then have to buy new one. there's probably a reason why this mod isnt so popular yet... This fix the design flaw with Casio on tough solar models, fogging inside the module still possible if moist entered the module. You need to understand there's a few layers on tough solar models. And it is popular, but only to the local modding community. It is just not mainstream yet because there's only a handful of people capable of doing this perfectly, especially on separating the solar panel with the glass layer. QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 12:43 PM) hmm so where does this optical glue layer go onto? Between solar panel and the glass. anyway both my rangeman and protrek are about 5yrs old and abused...both LCDs still clear. I can guarantee the LCD clearness is not the same as when you first bought it. Rangeman and GX56 are very prone to this fogging issue, it's just how severe it is. QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 12:48 PM) but fogging occurs on the glass...so if theres a layer between...then u cant see any fogging occuring right... ![]() When you dismantle a tough solar model, this is what you get. 3 pieces of glass. One is on the inside within the module, another is the solar panel and the glass. That's where the moist is, and to fix it permanently you will need optical glue treatment. Fogging inside the module still can happen if moist goes in the module. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 12:48 PM) the main point is that at least u know got moisture inside...so u can take it apart to dry the case and module... then put in new o-ring and grease to seal it properly again. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 12:54 PM) i understand. If optical glue is done on that watch, there will not be moist in between the solar panels, only within the module. And it will be visible to you.but u also dont seem to understand if moisture gets in due to a bad o-ring...which also will show under the crystal provided got no layer there. On tough solar GShocks, there's two part you can get fogging. Between solar panels and inside the module. This post has been edited by Fighteden: Feb 14 2020, 12:58 PM |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 01:01 PM) well main crystal still clear enough for me. You want to live in denial, then up to you la..i'll see how well my bluetooth negative squares do in 5yrs then...another 4yrs to go... But that Rangeman definitely is fogged up within the solar panel, it's just not severe yet. Do note that severe fogging can cause the ink writings on the glass to be soft and scrapped away when attempting to remove the fog in the future. ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 12:58 PM) ![]() Look at the solar panel areas, it is not black but grey'ish. That is a clear sign of fogging inside the solar panel. Normally it will be dark black as below ![]() This post has been edited by Fighteden: Feb 14 2020, 01:16 PM |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 14 2020, 01:15 PM) sounds more like some fear mongering sales pitch... lol.. whatever la, i love my watches and i take care of them.in the end still a gshock...and if its not a limited edition...i dont really bother la...parts can be replaced later. Limited or not, i would like it to be as clear as possible. And you assume i am "selling"? Lol.. i am not the guy who does this nor am i related to him in any way. As least i am not living in denial And oh, solar panels when severely fogged can cost up to RM400 to replace. While optical glue treatment is only 150 This post has been edited by Fighteden: Feb 14 2020, 01:19 PM |

In your wisdom, do you think this is genuine? https://www.lazada.com.my/products/casio-g-...s684878758.html If yes, then my next question would be... is the G-5600e-1 is a good starting point for a G-Shock newbie?
