Yes for the sake of fertility, it is a MUST do!

Else fertility issue might destroy a marriage. Especially if parents of your spouse is "old fashion".

In case any problem is found, the couple can plan ahead what do expect.

I done mine at BP, for a couple, its less than RM300.

Note: nothing wrong with old fashion or tradition.

you need to run pre-marital test. see your trusted OBY/GY for more info.

That why you see some parents who has children with certain medical conditions.

The both of you need to get thoroughly tested for STDs, certain strains of HPV can run undetected with run of the mill tests. Alternate methods of birth is required.

These are only two sets of scenarios, the list is extremely long. Paranoia may set in. sweat.gif

Those people with mindsets stuck in a tree, cannot get pregnant adopt if you are that desperate to have a child. Why did you get married in the first place ?.

Hi, BP means BP Diagnostic Centre?
May I know which branch did you go?
What's your experience like? Do they provide doctor consultation also?

At BP, the doctor consultation is part of the package.

In fact, you can also choose to go for a medical check-up at any other private hospitals but I bet the fees are much more expensive. Furthermore, they charge separately for the doctor consultation. That added up a lot.

All BP centre will have it, just give them a call and enquire about their packages. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you. Their website also has some information on pre-marital check ups.

And yes, as Blofeld said, all BP tests are inclusive of doctor consultation.

DU. Consultation included.

Advice to call up to make appointment first before going, they will tell you to fast how many hours before the test....

Don't worry so much. Good luck. thumbup.gif

i almost shot some food out of my nose after reading this!

but seriously, i don't think you can check this through BP but speaking to your partner would be the wisest choice i believe. i mean, can you imagine the awkwardness in asking your partner to 'go for a checkup cause i want to know if you're a virgin or not'.

makes it sound like you dont love each other enough to get and stay married sweat.gif

It is best to pay some money to consult a Gynaecologist/Obstetrician, rather then going to a blood test centre. Granted its difficult to find a good gynae nowadays, but its a better option then s consultant explaining your blood works.

i think you misunderstood my reply. i fully support and encourage the pre-marital checks. what was referring to was having a virginity check from a blood test centre. i feel that such checks if for whatever reason required, should be by an OBGYN.

No worries. I am worried about the trend of youths not willing to consult a specialist. I have not come across any who acted inappropriately. If they do, file a complaint.

I accompanied a friend to a blood work processing 'centre', they had all this 'equipment' to make them look impressive. I was quite shocked at what they were doing. Plus I wasnt even sure if the person was a blood tech or doctor. To cut a long story short, I took her to a specialist to explain her anxieties away. all for the princely sum of RM70/= excluding blood work cost.

but anyway, why is it important to know whether your partner is a virgin or not?

if you love her enough, whether she's virgin or not does not matter right, as long as she doesn't carry any disease that may pose danger yo your health????

randomly did a google check and found this link, maybe you could take a look?

Always good to check out, you may never know whether you and/or your spouse are carriers of any hereditary genes/disease that would affect your child if you plan to have any.

1. not entirely necessary. if you wish, you may.
2. what type of blood test? just the normal ones,i.e., full blood count, fasting blood glucose, lipid profile, liver function, renal function, hepatitis b screening, vdrl and hiv. the full blood count can detect thalassemia, hepatitis b screening for hepatitis b, hiv for hiv, vdrl for syphillis. most important for both of you will be thalassemia, hiv and hepatitis b.
if the both of you have had unprotected sex or oral sex than you might be exposed to hiv, syphillis, hiv and hepatitis b already.
3. not all diseases can show up in these tests, especially hereditary ones but thalassemia is easily detectable. if your blood counts and peripheral blood film points towards thalassemia, than you might need to do hb electrophoresis ( just another blood test) to pinpoint which type of thalassemia you have.
4. these tests can be performed by any GP or physician or gynae. but i would recommend a GP or a consultant physician. not a gynae yet. please don't go directly to the lab too because a lab technician is not qualified to consult. if you go to BP, then make sure you see the doctor on duty.
5.once you are pregnant, then only see the obstetrician. if you are over 35 years of age, then you might request for amniocentesis to detect if your foetus is a Down's syndrome baby.
6. if you are unable to conceive after marriage...then only see the gynae for fertility tests.

you can try....there's no rule to say cannot. talk to the doctor. if the doctor is nice, you might get to check everything but you can't take the reports out of the centre.
