PureView 2 is geared towards casual smartphone users who need quality photos on the fly. Sure, Lossless zoom and oversampling provides REALLY, REALLY good photos. But your hands gotta be super steady, you practically need to control your heartbeat and the auto mode ain't gonna help much, you gotta meddle with the settings.
With PureView 2, just point and shoot and you get immensely great photos, you don't have to worry to steady your camera (and lose that precious moment which you'll never see again) and it just works. Yes, it's very Apple like to be 'it just works', but that's what non-professionals expect of their device. (That's why WP 'just works')
All the controversy regarding fake photos/videos are blown way out of proportions. Nobody complained about 'fake' FaceTime ads.
Just take a look at the real world demonstration and decide for yourself if the camera is of top quality or not.

But it is for 95% of the others out there, and I think it's a great strategy for Nokia to create this kind of camera, because producing what the majority of the consumers means reaching a wider market base and hopefully, more sales.
