QUOTE(g5sim @ Dec 14 2012, 06:22 PM) I am sorry but 'smart dialer' sounds 1mil times more ridiculous than how Apple perceives wireless charging!!! from you description of the feature, it seems that you must already have saved the number for it to auto appear when you dial the first 2 digits for example - its like auto suggest in internet browser minus the fact that in web browsers - they give suggestion on URLs that are not in your favourite. Why would one wants to type the digits of a phone number instead of going to the saved contact in People Hub? I mean, all mobile numbers in Malaysia either start with 010, 012, 013, 016, 019, 017 etc. So you need to type at least four digits for your phone to auto suggest the numbers from your phone. and who remembers the phone numbers of a friend nowadays? It must much hassle and not to mention MUCH LESS click to go to People Hub. It auto suggest the name of the contacts instead of the tel number. You also can list the contacts by alphabets/number. Not to mention to get all types of contacts of that person, from phone to instant messenger to facebook chat. It's not typing the number, it's typing the name. As u type, the phone will suggest. It's a feature & it's always nice to have options. U like it, u use it. U don't like it, u don't use it.

The Lumia 920 doesn't even tell you if you are dialling the correct person or not even after you type the full phone number like the iPhone. In the iphone if you dial the full phone number, if the number is in your contact, it will tell you the contact name. I have 2 phone (1 with the Malaysian Simcard) and I don't have the full contact in the 2nd phone and sometimes I received a call on it, so I usually will dial the full phone no in the iPhone and if a contact name comes up, then I'll continue with the call.
Can't do that in WP8. Wish they have this feature.

Thanks in advance.

I dont see how this is removed from Windows Phone 8. you go to people hub, type in the first letter of contact J for example, it will list everybodys name starting with j. it will filter further the more letters that you put in.

Getting Started

I have an UK 920 set. At phone tile, instead of showing Celcom it shows Local network operator. And at mobile network setting it shows 502019 network. Anyone has encounter this issue before in either WP 7 series or WP8?
FYI, i have no problem making calls, sms or even using data connection.

Your UK set is probably a carrier set which doesn't recognize Celcom. Well, it shouldn't happen, usually it's recognized from SIM card / broadcast. Doesn't matter, as long as you can use.

It is unlock set. I can manually choose celcom under network selection setting yet the tile still doesn't show Celcom. So annoying.

Yes, this is also the case with WP8 where you have to dial first before the phone shows if the person is on your contact list. A bit annoying though because in the iOS, it will automatically display the person's name (if they are in your contact list) before you dial .... ohh well. I'm sure MS will do something about it. Now waiting for Whatsapp and Portico for the Lumia 920. HTC 8x already has Portico OTA, I wonder why it is taking Nokia so long though (well it''s only been 4 days but gawddemmit!!!)
