im new to wp.. have problem in whatsapp
if im back to home, and enter whatsapp apps,
go to the setting, see the connection state, its state not connected..
do we get notification while our fon is in lock mode?

Put it this way. When your phone goes on idle, your phone will automatically shut down its WiFi, the rationale, according to Microsoft, is to conserve battery (which I personally think is bullshit). So when your WiFi is down and you have no 3G available, WNS cannot "push" the notification to your phone. It's not a matter of 3G strength, it's more like you need to leave 3G on most of the time.

The WiFi shutdown part will only happen when your screen goes black. So this depends on how long you set to keep your phone awake.

As for notifications, to be fair, it only happens to some vendors, most notably Whatsapp, since it's also the most used. This has got nothing to do with the OS. It functions just like the "push" you receive for Hotmails / Outlook. It's instant. The reason for delay in Whatsapp is like I explained before, server issue.

Get a paid account, problem solved (most of the time anyway).

Microsoft may think that but they should still let it be an option. They shouldn't try to babysit us too much otherwise people will just go for Android/iOS to get the customization they want.

Maybe yes, maybe no. It's not important to me. What's most important is for them to fix the bloody WiFi disconnect issue. I've sent emails to multiple execs in Microsoft. First to Ballmer, he then directed me to Richard which is the head of product engineer or something. To date, still no fix.

It's not a bug. It's indeed a so called feature and that is working against me. So, a "fix" is really required lol

Edit: It's said that Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive will come to all Windows Phone 8 users. Nokia users will have an exclusive app called Nokia Drive+ which will bring a lot more features than those 2 combined.

If i'm not mistaken the guy who did the video already abandoned his L920. His first set got dead pixel, he exchanged it for another set. However still got the same dead pixel problem. Third time he went to his telco store and got an android (LG i think). Problem solved lol

Well, it's okay if they do not implement for WP7.8, frankly it's dead end. Many people think that it's unfair, but to me, I like the phone's features now, so I buy the phone now. I don't buy into what the phone is capable of in the future. I buy it now because I like it now. So the lack of upgrade path, while seems sour at first, I can accept it because I bought my L800 not for the future capabilities, but for what it was capable of offering in WP7.5. Anything more is extra, that's how I see it.

At least all 4 features get implemented in WP8

Well, just to clear off some confusions you may have, notifications are "Live".

This is where Live Tile come into play. You receive a Toast notification which will appear on your screen for about 5 secs, and then it will go off. If you pin your app into the Start page, your app's tile will show (#) number of messages you have. In WP8, a tile can be stretched to form a wide tile. When that happens, it has sufficient space to also display your messages (up to 5 last received messages). These are called Live Apps.

Sometimes I don't mind the sticker...if they are placed nicely. But no, whoever in charge just randomly stick it somewhere...ugh.

Actually can we remove the sticker? I heard someone asked Nokia Malaysia on twitter and they say we can...

Yes, Toast itself is default. As soon as a "Push" message is delivered to your phone, you will get a Toast notification for about 5 seconds or so. You may swipe it to the right to hide it immediately. However, the downside of WP is that there's a lack of notification center. For example, on Android (I believe iOS too, long time no use, can't remember), as soon as you receive a notification, slide down from the top of the screen, you will see a summary of notifications.

On WP, you can't (at least not yet). Once the toast is gone, they are gone forever. You will need to rely on Live Tiles for indication. All is not lost, as reported, this feature may come sooner than we all thought

The plus point which Nokia is promoting is on the night shots. Look for the video which shows the Lumia 920 vs S3 vs iP5. It is there.

finally grabbed lumia 920 for £460 after waiting for months.. haha
