Ok if that so I don't see how ppl can say wp lacks good games because from I what see there are plenty good games offered under Xbox games.
*
well, most the games are not free and they area rather pricey... plus, their game title availability is not as broad as iOS or Android, yet.... let's just hope the DirectX 9 turn the tide around this time... Overall, I still hope i can customize more on the homescreen, i mean... black/white only background seem so boring after a while

Alrite thanks.

So far there are a few gripes of wp7 that isn't fixed in wp8.
- No separate volume control.
- no lock screen orientation
- no text reflow on browser
- wifi stops when screen is lock.

This 4 will annoy me a bit.

1. Confirmed.

2. Confirmed, although it doesn't annoy me as much.

3. No problem without text reflow for me.

4. To be confirmed. I was hoping they'd include the option. Any source to back this up?

There are plenty of things yet to be fixed from WP7 and I believe will be carried over through WP8.

1. Change of region. This can be done by going through customer service, but it is a hectic process. Why can't they just allow it as an option on our Windows Live profile? Heck, I'd even consider paying $10 for every change. Now I'm stuck to Australia, FFS.

2. Calendar. Windows Live calendar system tries too hard to be smart, ends up becoming an ass. They took regions / timezones into considerations, so some birthdays are out of sync. This only happens if you rely on Windows Live to handle birthdays. No impact on Facebook calendars.

3. Notification center. For the millionth time, Microsoft, toast is not enough. I want a summary of all notifications.

4. If your no. 4 is indeed confirmed, then this will be my issue with Microsoft / WP8. People always assume that they are "connected" to the WiFi. Take my mum for example, she's on a 100MB plan per month. I bought her a 710 some time ago. She played with her phone (connected to WiFi) then left it to idle, and it went to sleep. Then she woke it up again, tried to download Nokia Maps' maps. 1 map is over 100MB and immediately, she received an SMS from Maxis. How good an experience was it?

there are still a lot of factors that stops me

--doesn't have a centralized place for notification( i know live tile will have notification count on the tile, but what about apps that u didnt pin, plus, it's better to see what's up in a centralized place)
--the 'Me' tile doesn't seem to send out notification upon receiving any updates inside
--background color, i just hope we can change it to our own preference
--the whatsapp of WP.. not sure they improved it or not, but it's a bad experience since last time
--it doesn't feel as 'fun' as other phones, what i mean is, less games/quality free titles compared to other platforms
--no shortcuts of any kind... let's say i wanna turn off my bluetooth, or change my wifi access point after connecting to a network already.. current uses will get what i mean

some might say it's all the small/unimportant things, but i do feel these should be taken care of, if an OS is trully polished, every OS has it's downside, I'm just stating WP's, I do not mean that other platforms are perfect, in case anyone here is offended

yeah, Wi-Fi disconnects after a shoft while of sleeping, that is being confirmed, me, aspire are (or were) using WP phones, and that is one annoying behaviour that we all faced. However, there's a workaround, I remember is one of the former Nokia rangers that taught us that, using media sharing to broadcast our media after connected to a Access Point, then go back to home(not exiting the app), and the wifi will stay alive until u are disconnected from the access point.. the downside is that u need to do that everytime u are connected to a network

The titles are coming. Wait for it.

There are shortcuts. You can pin Bluetooth / WiFi to Home and access them easily.

Extra info on the wifi, that data sense thingy might help solve this but no one is sure yet if this is true or how it can be done. Can't remember where exactly i read this (been doing a lot of reading on wp8, pening already), I will try to look for it. I'll put the source here if I managed to find it.

The workaround doesn't work all the time. Basically, it's just to establish a connection with a server (whether it's home or remote). Once established, it will always stay connected until it is "notified" to stop. But like I said, it doesn't work all the time, and it's a hassle, for me, my parents, and almost everyone else.

yeah, I am unsure how the resizeable tile help, but last time, if we simply pin everything, the Live tile screen will be very messy and confusing at times, which losses its point and main attraction of each app being identifiable form just a glance

yeah.. that said, I just wish that could put more control over the phone's behaviour... My next phone will be an android for sure, but I hope WP8 is good enough to change my mind.. meanwhile, I find WP7 uninteresting after a using a while.. once u get used to the smooth scrolling and fluid transition animations, its beauty slowly fades away and reminds you about its ugliness.

I'm not a current Wp user but this notification thing doesn't seem like a big problem in wp8 especially. We can pretty much pin all the apps that we need the notification for, right? I mean we can resize the tiles now so we could use the smallest size for this apps, therefore we could pin quite a lot of apps. For me, I'll probably only need fb, whatsapp, sms, calls (misscalls), email, and maybe twitter. Those are it and the homescreen should be able to fit all this.

Am I talking sense here or am I talking out of my ass?

These "small little things" are the ones who make the OS. They are important and as a user u have the right to voice your concern.

yeah, u can do that, but the thing is, if you pin too many things into your Tiles, your Tiles become very cluttered and it's almost like there're no difference with the main menu.. my understanding of the tile is that, what is important to me will all be there, accessible within a glance, without needing to take a second to identify them. For me, there're e emails, sms, call, 'Me' tile, skype, calender, drive..
initially Skype i don't pin because it's not my main IM, but i keep missing notification if i don;t do that, so in the end i had to pin it, so i wish there're some place where notification can be seen, so that even those not-so-important apps with notification can be noticed there

The way how they market the WP8 is "cater for each of us and not all of us", I think this direction has already been done by Android and they pretty much follow the trend til now.

Well yeah, you get the icons grid on both iOS and Android but on Android, they allow users to customise their homescreens with widgets and all that, hows that for "cater each of us"?

The things that mentioned above like the issues for WP7 is pretty much a deal breaker for me on WP8, the apps on the marketplace are bloated by a great deal amount of "basic" apps.

Xbox Live games on the other hand are quite fun to play with but these titles are pretty old in my opinion and pricey. sweat.gif
