first of all, you should study and understand jrt before getting one..

jrts is like this especially males..

tips:
use a roll up newspaper to whack him
must be on the spot and not after he done it..
use 1 simple command "NO"..

i have 4 jrts at home and all of them roam free in my house.. i can do it, why can't u?

jrts needs alot of attention.. they r full of energy and u need to exercise them or play with them to release it's energy.. if not, they will DO something to get your attention..

Ya, quite difficult to avoid. He had his stones remove 1 year ago.. Now he is showing symptom again. Check with vet, he said some breed are prone to bladder stones and may come back after surgery. We soley stick to Royal Canin S/O as it may help to dissolves the stones n make him drink alot of water as it is salty. Also changed his diet, taking fish instead of the ussual chicken meat. Hopefully he doesnt nd to go through another round of surgery as he's not young anymore.. He was a healthy dog up to age of 10yrs..no sickness. I guess aging is the issue..same goes for human..

IMHO,.. try changing to wet food or home cooked food. Water intake doesnt mean it has to be from drinking source, cook stew, soupy based food to helps your dogs to take in all those moisture.

where can i get a wide selection of cc dog food?
I hv been feeding my JRT with Eaglepro's hypoallergenic salmon dog food all this while but the supply of the dog food seems got problems recently..
I might need to change the dog food to cc if they hv the dog food for hypoallergenic dog..  hmm.gif

Seems to be a very common thing for Local bred JRTs. Find out what your dog is allergic to and cut that food source out,,,.. its doesnt have to be hypoallergenic (which cost more).... if you dog is allergic to chicken cut that out from its diet. FRead your dog's food ingredients.... google up on how to read and understand ingredients. Some has chicken Fats, byproducts...avoid those ingredients.
i practice changing food all the time rotate over few brands,.. mainly stick with Fish based kibbles, currently on natural balance, but also love Acana & TOTW. Eukanuba, BRIT

JRTs to me are the smartest breed in the dog kingdom,... so easy to train and always trying to outsmart you. if you are not prepare to keep them busy and excercise them, prepare to buy new furniture, patch up holes in gardens, neighbor complainings on noisy barks...etc Most JRTs pick up tricks fast within 3-4 tries.

It's not because of local bred, it's common on jrts because of pigmentation.. Most white color furr dogs r like this.

hope no more operations..  how about canine cavier dog food.. heard it's 1 of the best.. i'm currently feeding mine with cc..

Hi Chris,

Sorry for the late reply.. was caught with hectic work. I'm not sure about other brand of dog food. Royal Canin S/O urinary was recommended by my vet for my dog's condition. It is a prescription food where I can only get it at vet..not pet shop.

Now my lil precious is taking Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 cap with his food. He used to take it when young, few bottles a year up to age of 3 or 4. Then we stop. Recently, we started back on ACV and it seems like his bladder stone symptom is reducing. So i hope it is helping him.

Hi, my dog most of the time is on wet food. Since young, he doesnt like the dry knibbles. So what we did we soak it with water and some days we just feed him rice + chicken. Now, we have reduce his rice intake and feeding him the knibbles more, as recommended by our vet. This time we soak with lots of water, like eating soup and add 1 cap of ACV with it. He's okay with it. At least he has more water intake now. And some days we give him salmon canned food, for his fur coat. As previously he was having some sort of skin allergy, maybe overdose of chicken. Now we have stop giving him chicken and feeding him with salmons. Can see tht the fur coat improves but not sure its from the salmon or the ACV. As ACV also helps on skins as well.

Haha.. True. My JRT girl coming to 11. She still know her tricks but unwilling to learn new ones (stubborn). My JRT boy coming to 6yrs - a bit more mellowed but still naughty!! As for energy level, I'm surprised that my girl still can have bursts of energy!!!

Hi June, for your case maybe supplements can help..will check it out for you. I give my jrts spirulina n iron tablets once a week. Goats milk and cod liver oil daily..
as for therapy, exercise and move her legs several times a day. Each session around 10 mins.
