Hi guys,

I am wondering if anyone has seen/tested/used this monitor before. I wish to buy one but I am pretty unsure on the colors, the 3D effects, price, etc. I will use it for gaming(33%), movie (33%) and daily use (view photos, reading pdf, surfing web, youtube, facebook, 33%). One more thing is that I am using Nvidia GTX550 Ti.

Well it is priced around RM600+ and the specs are as below,

Picture/Display
LCD panel type: TFT-LCD
Backlight type: W-LED system
Panel Size: 23 inch / 58.4 cm

Contrast ratio (typical): 1000:1
SmartContrast: 20,000,000:1
Pixel pitch: 0.265 x 0.265 mm
Viewing angle: 170º (H) / 160º (V), @ C/R > 10
3D Viewing angle: 80º (H) / 12º (V), 3D CT<10

hi guys, is it common to see your screen flickers with your naked eyes. not so obvious but there are several lines moving up like water ripple. i just bought my monitor. before taking back to change, i would want to clarify with the issue.

i have changed the cables from hdmi > vga, change my cpu to laptop too, remove the speakers and placed far away. and yet it still flickers. one more thing, it becomes less visible with high brightness.

My monitor seems to have those lines again even on the replacement unit. I can seriously see those lines moving on my background even it is faded. and once in a while, there will be like a disrupted screen for a split second.

What is the issue here?

Do you have any wireless devices (e.g. handphone, WiFi dongle/receiver, wireless phone, etc) around the monitor? Also you may want to check your power connections (ie. avoid multi-plug bricks). Try using a AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) if the problem persists. Other than that, there's a possibility of getting a bad batch...  hmm.gif

Hi Lex,

Thank you for your reply. For the first unit, I brought it to the shop and they had tested it. They too suffer the same thing.

Before purchasing the monitor (this is my first purchase of a LED monitor, Philips 236G3D- a 3D monitor),

I had my 17' monitor, laptop, rig being plugged into the multi-plug on a single power source.

My rig has a 650W PSU.

I don't have an AVR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought the monitor 21 May, sent back the first unit on 22 May. Then, I got a replacement unit on the 27 May. I sent back the monitor on 31 May.

What I did before sending the replacement unit was, I turn off the rest (speakers and laptop) except for the monitor and the rig.

I only had my speakers nearby (Edifier C2X) which I bought with the monitor. But I had once removed it and place it somewhere else to test on my first unit, and I got the same thing.

On top of that, when I turn the brightness to maximum, the lines are not there, but when brightness is set to 80 and below, then I will be seeing it again.

Other problems on both the units are that, I am able to see thin vertical lines on the screen (as though every pixels are not pack together but being divided by those straight lines but those lines are colored slightly darker), and I was thinking might be because it is a 3D monitor, so I just ignore it.

But what annoys me was the fade horizontal lines moving up vertically.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 17' LCD monitor does not have that issue with both speakers near the monitor as well and I am using it with the same usage (speakers on, laptop on, rig on, monitor on currently). (Maybe it is LCD I guess as compared to a LED.)

I wish to clarify with that issue before requesting for a change to another brand/monitor as I have lost my confidence on that monitor.

Thank you. =)

Is that a multi-plug power strip, or one of those multi-plug brick? Usually I would recommend using power strips with individual plugs for each equipment. Best to avoid using multi-plug bricks as much as possible... wink.gif
i think multi plug power strip. the one with four inputs.

Let me guess, you're using VGA connection? unsure.gif

it comes with HDMI and my graphic card can support. I am using GTX 550 Ti.

This one is without doubt bad inverter section (for CCFLs) and/or bad power to the backlighting (for LEDs). shakehead.gif

yeah yeah. this is the problem why I sent back the monitor. but I am not sure what is the problem after googling it. but now i got an idea what is happening. thank you.

Perhaps its just a bad batch, as mentioned earlier.  You may want to consider changing to a different brand/model... icon_rolleyes.gif

hopefully. smile.gif

and thank you very much Lex. =)
