*Because of the differences in the sensor size, when mounted on the following cameras,
the EFFECTIVE focal length of a 50mm lens will become:
NEX cameras - 75mm;
Micro Four Thirds cameras - 100mm
thus making a 50mm the perfect lens for taking head and shoulder portrait pictures at about 3m/9ft away.
*With manual focus lens, exposure metering can be done in either Aperture Priority mode (Av) or Manual mode (M). In Aperture Priority mode, all you need to do is to select the aperture (by turning the aperture ring on the lens barrel) and the camera will select the appropriate shutter speed for you. In Manual mode, you select both the Aperture (again by turning the aperture ring on the lens) and Shutter Speed (via the control dial on your camera body)
*Focusing is done by turning the focus ring on the lens barrel and with the help of Peak Focusing & Magnification functions
*Manual focus lens is much better than Autofocus lens when it comes to focusing in low light condition like outdoor night scene, concerts, clubs, etc. With AF lens, the AF mechanism will struggle to lock focus each time you want to take a picture. However, with manual focus lens, you just focus ONCE, and you can just shoot away as many times as you like as long as your subject-to-camera distance remains the same, for example in a concert. The same applies to macro photography.
