can Downing cut inside from the flank? because from what i saw last night, the inclusion of Sterling was because of BR loves flankers who cut inside. he got Sinclair and Dyer in Swansea. in Liverpool, the only player capable to do that imo, is Suarez. Downing and Henderson always hug the touchline. i won't be surprise if BR get another winger at the end of the week.

sure he can..as long as BR put him on the right!..many times last season when he's switched to the right, he'll cut inside and shoot

oh yea. he got a nice left foot shot as well.

i thought Borini is an out and out striker. why he was played on the flank?

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Sep 3 2012, 11:54 AM)
He play on the left of an attacking trident, so I don't think it's accurate to say he was on the flank. Against Arsenal, he repeated came in-field to a more central position, dragging Gibbs with him, which mean that Podolski had to track Glen Johnson, who was out wide whenever we went forward. I would however like to see him swap positions with Suarez as I feel the latter is better with his feet and creating whilst Borini is the type of player whose first instinct isn't to create like Suarez's is, but rather, to finish.

it would be better if Borini plays at the center with Suarez on the flanks. in fact, i was really surprised to see Caroll moved to WHU because i thought Caroll suited the Graham role in Swansea. Suarez on the center is a waste. yes, his pace and movement can gives headache to defenders but against big and strong defenders, especially with a lot of experience, his threat can easily be nullified.

on Gerrard, i also agree that he should drop lower behind Allen and Sahin. he's the only person who i think can hold the ball among the 3 CMs Pool have, in addition to his quarterback passes.

oh btw, watch MOTD analysis on the match. they pointed out Liverpool's flaw in midfield and Glen's tendency to become a winger instead of full back. if BR fix these flaws, i think Liverpool will be fine in the future.

indeed, great words by J. Henry. i'd say give BR some time to understand his players and give the players some time to understand how BR works. don't rush to conclusion yet.
