@led_zep_freak:
sorry I didn't manage to answer, the thread got locked.
But I went to lurk around, and I found some gems to read.

Now, if you've read the material above, then one should probably arrive to the understanding that the entire youth and reserve system was getting tuned to the 4-2-3-1 as a basic formation, to which all managers would try to play to this formation, week in, week out.
The 4-2-3-1 is a very versatile formation that suits Liverpool's used-to-be-famous high tempo+high pressing, irregardless whether we are playing possession or playing direct. (under Rafa, direct, under Hodson, formation shape, and under KD, counter)
and, people who took credit was Frank McParland (he did brought up the likes of Gerrard, Owen, Carragher, etc) and another coach by the name of Marsh.
So Pep Segura was already toiling for probably 2-3 years before this Marsh, but suddenly BR promotes Marsh. (Frank McParland has already been promoted to first team)
I won't speculate as to what MAY have happened, but it was clear that seniority wasn't in question, and BR may have wanted his own men.
What BR's changes to the basis of the formation is a 4-3-3 instead of the 4-2-3-1 which we have used as our basis, so its pretty much of a "leap" than an evolution. The article prior explains nicely why Rafa did that, but since the discussion is about why Pep Segura left, I have no idea.
However, there are VERY STRONG HINTS that BR refused to work under a Sporting Director, and depending on the results, we'll have one installed end of this season and LFC will continue to proceed with the original blueprint of having one Sporting Director, One Head of Scouts, One Managing Director (we already have him) and then an evolved model from the Spanish setups.
