Apparently, the deal for Sturridge is back on again. What do you all think? I think he is good but my only concern is that he is a rather selfish player often times not passing the ball and it might be an issue considering how Rodgers' style is all about good teamwork and passing.

all i can remember of sturridge nowadays is how he fluffed his penalty for team GB to send them crashing out...

our No 8 not even on sub?/... looks like BR is giving chances to those who perform and rest those who r under perform.
*
you either forget sunday night is man city or dont know...
nothing to do with "rest those who r under perform", more like rest the ones who can make a difference during the man city match.

Surprisingly, he can still lunge in on Konchesky...Thought, that would at least break his tissue-paper-made legs into pieces.

Added on August 26, 2012, 12:16 amits kinda funny tho how we seem to buy players that other clubs dont seem to miss...

borini...wait and see...
he seems to get into positions that gerrard likes...once allen manages to link up nicely with borini then all hell is going to break loose on the opposition...

Liverpool has the tendency to raise their game again but always fall short against weaker teams in the following week!

Hope we don't see this next week!

next week playing against a weak team, arsenal biggrin.gif
so confirm lose...see podolski and giroud finally get on the score sheet.

Why would you want to sell him?
*
if you been watching, you can tell lucas is trying hard to change his game to be more attacking minded to suit BR's style...but somehow doesnt look right tongue.gif
then again, as BR says, lucas is quite prolific from 7 yards out with no goalkeeper...so maybe he'll keep no.21 as a cup player?

and with BR's golden boy Allen around, and now Sahin about to make his debut...and of cos gerrard still around...looks like there'll be no space for no.21 in the first 11.

Sahin is only here for a season mate. Don't get your hopes up.
*
well who knows what might happen after the loan...as Sahin is obviously surplus to requirements at RM...especially now with the self-declared 'world's best midfielder' just joining them from spurs.

QUOTE(hfi @ Aug 28 2012, 09:11 PM)
No one bar Allen, seem to have mastered the BR style .. and that's mostly down to Allen's familiarity from playing for Swansea. Even then, have we forgotten how tidy and tenacious Lucas was last season ? He's exactly the kind of players that suits BR style. He just need to regain fitness and form from last season which will be a real challenge for him.
*
imo, lucas is the only one that doesnt fit BR's style, hes trying to fit but he just looks uncomfortable.
apart from Allen...Enrique, Johnson, Agger, Gerrard, Suarez all fit right in...and that is also why BR brought in Borini, Assaidi and of cos Sahin.
add in Skrtel and Reina...and there is your first 11.

but anyway, lucas may be out for up to two months...so we can see how the new midfield performs against the misfiring gunners this weekend.
and sahin has already hinted that he may stay at LFC once his loan deal is over.

He hasn't look comfortable because he was still lacking full match fitness. Most of those players you mentioned had been playing competitiveness matches all through out last season and also took part in Euro. Allen was part of Team GB.

Fitness aside, i think it's common knowledge that Lucas is very tidy when it comes to possession. His pass completion is among the highest in the team if not the league. It's inconceivable that he's not a BR kind of player. If he's a Rafa kind of player, he's very much BR kind of player as well.
*
if he was lacking full match fitness, he wouldnt have started...
pass completion is one thing, useful passes is another.
its fair to say BR's golden boy does far more useful passes tongue.gif

Like how Brendan played Cole when he was still lacking fitness ? or how about when Lucas actually pulled his muscle thigh during warm up prior the City match and was still selected to start the game ? I'm really curious why the change of opinion about Lucas now. He has been the most consistent performer for us the past few turbulent seasons. It's undisputed. It's not fair to say Allen makes more 'useful' pass at all. They're different kind of players, performing different tasks for the team. And if i remember correctly, Lucas stats from last season would argue that he did more forward pass than Allen did.
*
what change of opinion? i have never been a fan of no.21 - in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
here's something someone did, comparing last yr's WBA game with the recent excellent 0-3 performance.
you can see how last yr lucas attemped more forward passes, but only for them to be intercepted which are the ones in red.
now under BR hes playing slightly further up front, moving slightly out of his comfort zone and he spraying passes sideways more again.
time will tell, but if no.21 still looks uncomfortable playing higher up...then i dont see how he'll be starting more games once he returns.

but again, to pass completion.
skrtel had 84% pass completion rate, but were any of them really useful? tongue.gif

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ Aug 29 2012, 07:42 AM)
nahhh exactly why BR will want both Lucas and Allen so that Lucas can focus on shielding the back four while Allen is free to go further forward to make good use of his creativity and passing ability. The reason why Allen adopted that defensive role in City game was because Lucas got injured at the last minute so Shelvey was brought on to play in Allen's role.

Remember how Lucas single handedly won/saved us points last season before his injury with his dominating defensive midfield display alone? When he was with the squad we were able to at least draw games because of him protecting the defense but without him in the 2nd half of the season we ended up at around 17/18th place for the 2nd half of the season. Allen might be good with his positioning and intercepting passes but when it comes to doing the dirty work, Lucas is our best.
thats cos we then had both adam and spearing running the midfield.
now we got the golden boy and sahin, also jonjo is slowly coming of age.

plus BR, like rafa, likes to employ 2 holding sweeping midfielders.
and i dont think anyone would just like to draw games...

Know you aren't the fan of No.21, but it's just a matter of match fitness. If he can get back to the level he was prior to injury, he belongs to the first team. I'm very sure he and Allen would form a good partnership in the middle. Imo he, along with Agger and Reina are one of the few whose playing style is tailor-made for BR's philosophy.

Sahin is just a temporary solution.
*
im just saying from what i see.
centrally, both aqua and spearing are already gone.
we now have left - hendo, adam, lucas, gerrard, jonjo, allen, sahin...
its very unlikely that BR will put players that he just got in on the bench...and gerrard most likely is going nowhere...
so that leaves the likes of hendo, adam, lucas and jonjo either on the bench or for the cup team.

btw, regarding sahin's temp - http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/...ol-stay?cc=4716
