QUOTE(dillonyong @ Aug 28 2012, 02:53 PM) Chelsea is asking for 25million pounds for Daniel Sturridge. Ridiculous asking price! http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story...tml?CMP=OTC-RSSThey need to balance the books after spending so much during the summer u know haha What u guys think about Borini so far btw? QUOTE(keith.hmc @ Aug 28 2012, 03:20 PM) Still foolish to ask that much. Borini is good in my eyes so far. Hard working, good pace, good technique and kind of a fox in the box. I think he just needs time to settle in the team. haha nobody in their right mind would sign him for that price..and i'm sure BR has the right mind..lol Borini works hard i agree but his first touch that day against City was somewhat poor imho..and yeah he needs time to settle.. BR looking to offload anybody before deadline? I thought I heard during the news on radio this morning that Adam and Downing might be sold..

Nah...don't think it's wise to chase for Sturridge whatever the price..The team seriously need a good finisher though..or u know, maybe Ian Rush can coach the strikers lol.. sigh...if only suarez can have scoring stats like my FM2012 game

QUOTE(Everdying @ Aug 28 2012, 07:49 PM) if you been watching, you can tell lucas is trying hard to change his game to be more attacking minded to suit BR's style...but somehow doesnt look right then again, as BR says, lucas is quite prolific from 7 yards out with no goalkeeper...so maybe he'll keep no.21 as a cup player? and with BR's golden boy Allen around, and now Sahin about to make his debut...and of cos gerrard still around...looks like there'll be no space for no.21 in the first 11. If Spearing is to be sold, I don't see Lucas going anywhere. Besides, he still plays an important role defensively. If he plays alongside Allen and Gerrard in midfield, the offensive roles are most likely gonna be handled by those 2. I still see him as an important player to the club.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Aug 29 2012, 10:21 AM) perhaps not offload, but his chances of a starting 11 could be limited...apart from the butthurt no.21 fans around...quite a few fans are also expecting a gerrard / sahin / allen midfield to shape up with gerrard playing in the hole. and now with no.21 probably out for the next 2 months, we can see how the new midfield will shape up without any external butthurt influences. It all depends on the opponents I think. An Allen+Sahin+Gerrard combo in midfield would look very attack-minded and would probably serve us well against teams who are looking to only defend against us, especially weaker teams at Anfield. But against better opposition, we still do need a player to disrupt opponents' offensive plays/counter attacks i.e do the dirty work. Lucas has vastly improved in that department in the past few years and IMO he's better at doing defensive work than Allen and we do need Allen to be setting up plays slightly higher up the pitch. Definitely not a backup player because, if fit, I still see a Lucas+Allen+Gerrard lineup against the bigger teams. It gives a more balanced outlook to the team.

Walcott's final ball is somewhat suspicious..but he has a lot of pace..but 15M? Not worth it me thinks..

QUOTE(rickk @ Aug 29 2012, 04:46 PM) Not to say look down. But, it's kind of risk I would say. 10-15mil to bring him over and expect he can be the top scorer for the squad... Erm,,,, I would rather suggest BR take the $ spend on the real or good "finisher"? IMO.. Agree.. that kinda money would be better spent on a proven finisher.. Wouldn't spent more than 10M on Walcott..considering the fact that he's in the final yr of his contract at Arsenal

Small-sized and quick-turning strikers would have a field day if Carroll's defending them..can guarantee..I think just ask Suarez to go one-on-one with him in training sure can d..Imagine a nutmeg from Suarez and a burst of pace..Carroll might land flat on his back..

QUOTE(e30 @ Aug 31 2012, 02:31 AM) tonights teamsheet pretty much confirms Big Andy, Charlie Adam and perhaps even Spearing are leaving. Feel bad for Andy though, still think he deserves a chance to prove himself. sounds like we are taking a huge financial loss with the sale here. so i guess Dempsey is coming, and perhaps even Walcott/Sturridge? Spearing's out on loan for 6 months at Bolton according to a LFC insider on twitter (@liam_tomkins) And also according to him, Stoke made a bid for Adam already but Fulham and Villa are also interested. So perhaps LFC holding out for a bid from Fulham to fund part of Dempsey's fee. And apparently Andy's in London to finalize his loan deal to West Ham. Well, lets just wait for the official news. But so far this guy's been reliable. This post has been edited by 8sg9ft: Aug 31 2012, 02:52 AM

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Aug 31 2012, 05:03 AM) One individual howler at one end, one individual brilliance at the other end. Enjoyed tonight's performance, it's not the well-oiled engine that we know it can be but we're getting there. There's still the glaring hole where we need a goalscorer, however with AC out on loan, I'm sure we can expect a quality player coming in now. As for the people who found passing back to the keeper 'annoying', rest assured that back in the 80s the best Liverpool teams used to do that to the annoyance of the opposition fans, not home fans. Change your mindsets people or you'll fall into the same category of people who labelled Spain boring. Yeah my thoughts exactly. I see a lot of forumers here expect BR to change Liverpool's style with a snap of his fingers. The thing is about trying to play this short-passing, high tempo play is there has to be a lot of movement off the ball. If there is no man free of his marker there is nobody to pass to so gotta reset the play - the same as how Spain did it in Euro 12. There has to be a lot of patience. If the opponents are well-organized and disciplined defensively, it will be tough to find a lot of space in the final third and it will be frustrating. Pls be patient guys. Besides, it's only late August and they've only played 6 competitive matches. Give the players time to get used to BR's style of play. QUOTE(Duke Red @ Aug 31 2012, 08:04 AM) People who do so befuddle me man. Same here. BTW, what a way to start the defense of the Carling Cup...against a team who humbled us in the league 2 weeks ago..lol This post has been edited by 8sg9ft: Aug 31 2012, 12:02 PM

QUOTE(ahaksz28 @ Aug 31 2012, 12:23 PM) I see. Now Liverpool only got Borini, Sterling and Suarez right? Are they gonna add a new striker after loaning out Carroll? That C. Adam is not that good. I'm not sure how Liverpool can recruited him last season. Is the new loanee Sahin direct replacement for C. Adam? Club is playing the waiting game to sign Dempsey. Fulham might be doing the same to us regarding Adam Never seen Sahin play before to be honest but if he can be German league player of the season 2 seasons ago, I'm sure he's a lot better than Adam

QUOTE(w_lun @ Aug 31 2012, 05:38 PM) Heard we've been offered option to loan Leandro Damiao for £3m with an option to buy for £13million next summer. Btw, Spearing has joined Bolton on season-long loan deal. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-new...-leaves-on-loanNow that is interesting news. Saw stg similar on twitter too.

If Sterling had Ox's physique, he would be awesome. Right now physically he isn't there yet but I'm excited to see what he can produce in the next few years.
As for Gerrard, I don't know what has gone wrong with his passing in the past year or so. Not as pinpoint as I would expected it to be. Probably 3 seasons of bad finishes in the league is taking its toll on captain fantastic?
Reina - Also another mystery. 3 errors already so far this season. And imo he didn't have a great year last season too. 2 matches in a row against Arsenal at Anfield he's made a mistake.
And btw, I'm not sure whether it's just me but I think perhaps Borini doesn't do enough defensively. I only watched the first half yesterday and the right side of out defence was exploited far too often imo.
