Gave another call to CS to follow up on my case

according to them the points are deducted for the installment beause any conversion to installment will deduct points UPFRONT from your existing points

once statement is released the correct points should be reflected back. This is such a weird mechanism to me and I hope it's true
*
Okay, this can make sense.

One thing I like about Alliance CS is they are very responsive.

Just that their TBP calculation not straightforward haha. Before the changes last year Nov, if you exceeded the 3k cap, they will still calculate as 8x, but will deduct the 7x on the excess in the next statement. Right now, it shows in the same statement month.

The reason for asking is because instalment is x1 points only.
Perhaps if you convert to instalment then they no longer consider it as an online purchase for x8 points so the points was deducted.
Just a theory.
The points is awarded x1 per instalment so if you convert RM 6000 to 6 months instalment then you will get 1000 points in the first month.
Again just trying to figure it out.
*
the initial confusion was why the points are deducted from my existing points for a purchase which was made before the statement release

my idea was the point should only be reflected after the statement release no matter 1x or 8x points

but after clarifying with CS per my reply above it seems they are deducting the points upfront first

they are just very different in doing things compared to my experience with Maybank and PBB.... like balance transfer they will open another acc, MBB and PBB will directly reflect it on the CC acc itself.

this makes me wonder.... what if I dont have enough existing TBP when I convert to installment?

[EDIT] received a call from the CS to explain things further. So if lets say you dont have enough TBP and you convert to installment.... your TBP will show negative blink.gif simple as that but still a weird way to do it for me

leakage incident in Feb 2025 called B1ack's Stash Data Leak 2.0 affecting APAC region with over 3mil cards were compromised/leaked info.

Malaysia has the highest exposure.

as a security precaution, banks will notify affected cards/users to monitor their card accounts for any unauthorized txn happening.

if you feel not secure, request for card replacement instead of ignoring.

oo, no wonder i see many ppl sharing the same sms content.. I've contacted them, n they advise for card replacement too.. was told they get alert from Visa.. so, should be affecting those visa card... they checked there isnt any unauthorised attempt to my card, but, advise me to replace the card, n even tell me if i dont replace it, any unauthorise txn, they wont be liable for that.. first time i heard of this kind of policy... sweat.gif

first time getting it for all the cards i've including other banks.. normally bank will block the card straight if they suspected card compromised / only receive sms on suspected transaction that ask me to call them to block if required.

Below is the sms content:
"RM0 AllianceBank: Card ending xxxx may be compromised. To safeguard from unauthorised transaction, pls call Customer Service to replace card. TQ"

haiya, they warned you only of potential leakage of your card details in darkweb.

if you already acknowledged the issue and still using it, obviously you bear the risk lo sweat.gif cannot blame back the bank, right? --- "i told you so" scenario

at least they didnt force you to terminate the card immediately, like the ipay88 fiasco laugh.gif

banks are notifying all affected cards/users to monitor only .... of course, if bank willing to replace your card for FOC, just do it! biggrin.gif

they didnt tell me on the potential leakage of card details in darkweb... just say is system alert.. n the sms just mentioned call them to replace card, n not ask to monitor.. i wonder if someone missed the sms, then, got unauthorised txn after that, the cardholder need to bear the risk too?

anyway, they offer to replace card, then, i just tell them to proceed.

havent reached critical stage yet biggrin.gif

from the sms content, bank just do a basic notification instead of creating panic (ie mass card replacement == increase cost! haha)

you need to call cs and they will assign a new sales team to attend. once card is cancelled, the system detect you as existing customer, thus making you unable to re apply again.

the virtual card and visa infinite shares the same limit, but they both have their own cap for earning TBP

so theoratically you can earn max 96k tbp each month (2x RM6K) for the 8x TBP cap

another good thing about the virtual card, you can convert any online spending above RM500 to 12 months 0% installment from the app
