QUOTE(Dino168 @ Jan 2 2015, 09:37 PM) Looking for a new credit card (with cash back) and found ..... After RM3K spending, you earn 0.3%. So yes, once you go above RM3K, you don't enjoy 3%... how does cash back calculation work after RM3001 ... RM3001X0.3%=RM9 only? So cannot spend more than 3K/month to enjoy 3% cashback ... very confusing Example you spend RM3,500, the cash back yo get: First RM1K x 0.50% = RM5 Second RM1K x 1.5% = RM15 Spend RM3K a month you get additional RM1K x 3% = RM30 For balance RM500, you get RM500 x 0.03% = RM1.50 TOTAL cash back for RM3500 spent = RM61.50 (1.835%) And the more you spend above this about, the effective cash back reduces further. In toerh words, the cad is good for up to RM3K spending (unless if you get discount). Once you are able to comoprehend the above about Tiered Based Cash Back - click here to my article The Best Cash Back Credit Card Combination where I will show you how to optimize cash back returns with increments of RM500. Not sure bout you guys but my alliance plat anniversary is sept, on my oct statement they waive my AF as I swiped >12 transactions. Surprisingly there is no mention of GST for Oct, Nov and Dec statements.
Sadly will keep this card in freezer after I obtain Maybank 2 Premier. Unless there is special promotions for MasterCard. Has served me well as back up to Maybank 2 Amex and complimentary entry to PPL KLIA. This post has been edited by bearbear: Jan 4 2015, 08:39 PM |

One particular card is You:nique Rebates. Which gives up to 3% cash rebates for expenses up RM3,000.RinggitPlus seems to suggest there is a cap of RM90 for expenses up to RM3k, but GenX is saying otherwise. Which is what I am still confused about. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Cash rebates are calculated based on tiered spending. RM3,500 spending will return RM51.50 cashback |

QUOTE(laymank @ Jan 22 2015, 02:40 PM) OK, I just called to clarify. Gen X has provided the correct fact. With the spending of RM3,500 and cashback of RM51.50, the effective cashback percentage is 1.4714%, consider not bad for Visa / Master.Cash rebates are calculated based on tiered spending. RM3,500 spending will return RM51.50 cashback So there is no such thing as 3%, this is the kind of marketing gimmicks that most people falls into as nowadays people don't read the fine print of T&C. Spend with the thought of getting 3% return and never bother to check the effective return help the bank raise quite a handsome amount of ROI. |

This is the agak-agak table I use as guide for Allz Platinum
Total spend per statement - $0-500(0.6%) ; $501-1,350(0.7%); $1,351-2,550(0.9%); $2,551-5,000(2%); >$5k Max Cash back @ range - 0.60% ; 0.66% ; 0.77% ; 1.37% ; 0% Points ( no points for petrol,gov) - 0.23%; 0.23%; 0.23% ; 0.23% ; 0.23% Total "Returns" - 0.83%; 0.89%; 1.00%; 1.60% ; 0.23%; *aiks table format disappears* This post has been edited by ??!!: Jan 22 2015, 05:50 PM |

QUOTE(MNet @ Jan 23 2015, 08:22 AM) I did called up the RinggitPlus CS to ask about the 'quota', according to the lady, no one has been approved for Alliance Bank, maybe no one applied, or, she was simply throwing such a statement to me. I don't know.Anyway, later on another RP CS called me to personally tell me that they are not 'able' to access that info. (yea, like real). So, here you go... with such tactic on tiered rebates and unknown first 200 approved applications, would you still want to apply? I think no. |
