I have two similar setup as you mentioned
one is my home pc.. using Crucial M4 128GB and Samsung 1T for data and stuff... the Crucial is only 1/3 full installed ms office suite+some graphics apps and some game... but almost all the document/temp files i moved it to the 1TB drive. So far so good

Another one is my laptop...using Intel 330 120GB similar setup as my home pc.. no games install just some work apps...46GB use up... I have one 320GB for data so all in all its good..upgrade...system wide respond time excellent..specially boot up time

For the part on which brand too pick ... well I will go with intel or crucial the rest I can't comment on them.. maybe google around for quality feedback
