QUOTE(cstkl1 @ May 12 2013, 03:56 PM) Ok here is the thing WD blacks require active cooling especially the current gen. They run hot. SSD's now are better than ever and they can handle multi tasking. Hence where on I/O consistency the sandforce beats marvel, samsung. Meaning i would trust my torrent rig with sandforce rather than marvel and samsung controllers. However since the use of nand's sandforce degrades. The only one top of the line that is very good at this is Neutron GTX which is what corsair is marketing as multi tasking heavy use. Its also good for some light server loads so far. Its enterprise grade on I/O consisntecy and the nand doesnt degrade. That's why current mid to high end casing comes with modular HDD cage equip with 12cm fans to keep the drives cool. I do agree that WD Black series runs hot. Average 41 celcius

N the life is based on number of writes.

Anyone tried out SSHD? It seems offering a very good price over performance with more capacity. Not sure if its a right place to bring out this discussion since its both SSD and HDD.

So just buy a smaller ssd and a larger hdd and it will do a hybrid like solution with ahci.

There are something called Solid State Cache too, \ http://www.corsair.com/ssd/accelerator-ser...che-drives.htmlhttp://www.sandisk.sg/products/ssd/sata/readycache/Works on any mobo but require third party software, not really a new tech stuff as SSC exist on market for quite some times already.

However, it requires 2 sata connections. I'm planning to get the 2.5" version for my sister new laptop. Some youtube testing and comparisons, not sure it is reliable source or not. It shows SSHD just 3sec behind SSD for boot up. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

is there any differences between intel SSD 335 series and intel SSD 520 series ?
i'm looking something above 240G and it seem like this 2 series fit the bill.
so far the highest capacity is 480G by intel 520, any bigger capacity from intel ?

Intel 335 - 3 years warranty - cheaper Intel 520 - 5 years warranty - expensive - better performance [but not so noticeable in real life] Any more than 480gb or 512gb will probably be revodrive.

It' just that if there's anyting happen to one of your raided 0 SSD...then it's goodbye data. Edit: When does hardcore gamers have to do with raid 0? I thought those for benchmark fanatics This post has been edited by Yagami5159: May 14 2013, 08:18 AM

Plus 2, SSD does not imcrease FPS, but reduce loading time only.

I thought those for benchmark fanatics well, since the overall performance would be lower (cheaper ssd), i thought maybe raid 0 configuration can make up for it when it comes to straight fight with something like samsung 840 pro / neutron gtx not to mention, purchasing 2 x value ssds is cheaper than purchasing 1 x performance ssd. so im pretty much in a dilemma right now as my budget only allows me to stretch a bit to buy either 2 x 256gb value ssd or ended up purchasing just 1 x 256gb performance ssd.
