noticed that the gear position "D" light at my meter cluster is burnt and also backlight of the aircond temperature knob burnt.

recoilMeter cluster - reach behind the meter from underneath, twist and pull out the burned bulb to change. Look for budget LED for car signal and modify.

Temperature meter need to pull out center console frame, and open the screws. The center console is clipped to the dashboard, so quite easy to pull out.

First update after converting to Cat-free extractor. It was done at half tank, 250km mark.
Before: 370km per full tank.
After: 410km per full tank. (Actually was 416km, and refuel with 29L, stop when pump clicked.)

Waiting for next full tank to confirm improvement.

If math is right, with the new extractor, my Kenari FC improved by 33.3%.

Next full tank should yield 493km. Only daily city driving, no hanky panky here.
I know, it looks too good to be true. I am equally excited for this tank to finish.
If this is true, the RM180 is definitely well spent.

Thanks for your help.

Any tips to improve overall FC? Any good workshop to recommend? I'm in subway area.
My kenari is 2004 n has clocked around 140,000km. I can feel that the engine vibrates when accelerating

I just did Threebond carbon cleaning with a dealer in Lowyat forum.. And changed a new stock air filter..Pickup seems more responsive and will share if FC improved or not..

I managed to get ard 350km on a full tank n now meter showing "E".. Haven't go pump petrol and will update how many litres used later.

Can you try once with a full tank, drive normally, and see how far that tank carries you?
I researched that thing too, and it's mostly petroleum based solvent and surfactant to clean engine. Bad for piston rings though. Be careful not to overrev the engine for a period of time after you use that thing.

Looking forward to your field report.

Thanks a lot for your info

FC still not so good le.. I'm getting only 11.8km/litre

What abt others?

Do you get stuck in jam frequently? What brand you using?
Mine is getting 12.8km/L before the manifold, using P_tron_s.
Using other petrol, was getting similar like you, 11.8~12km/L.

MyKenari photo album below, including the photos taken during manifold upgrade:

To n fro daily I think jam ard 30mins at least n I'm using Sh??l brand. My car is 100% stock, 14" ori aerosport
How's your FC after manifold change? Where can do this upgrade?

That's pretty bad, just like mine before I took over. Looking back, it is unbelievable.
For yours, let's start for you to please detail out the service history:
- Engine oil
- Spark plug
- Air filter
- Tyre pressure
Try other brands of petrol, at first also I don't believe, after switching over back and forth, concluded that for me, P_etron_s is the best FC. Power wise - C_lt_x. Now the Kenari is 2nd car, did about 100km on the current tank, I will update more.

In the photo album, there is one with meter console showing distance and fuel gauge one. Maybe that can be used for your comparison, too.
*
Ok, I just pumped petron and give it a comparison. Also will try to change spark plugs.

Since I took over this car few weeks ago, I just changed OEM air filter which old one look bit dusty. Hope over time and with your tips I can get like 420 - 450km per tank would be very happy already.

By the way, what's the tyre pressure you all used?

Some places sell T5 LED for RM5 a pair. That's what I use, also suitable for headlight, very nice.

hey bro

Need your input n guidance on below

1) how long is the interval before we do timing belt change? and during timing belt change, what other things that we should replace since gonna open up a lot of things...

2) what's the rough cost for doing so? i'm thinking to go back to perodua as i'm afraid of non genuine parts at workshop outside.

3) just realised that I haven't done any fuel filter change on my car. Any input from you?

1. I think is 60,000km. Whole set with pulleys, as necessary. Not many things open up la, just the belt cover.
2. I remember around RM300 up to 600. I changed mine 2 years back, forgot ady. sweat.gif
3. Fuel filter? I haven't change that too.
*
thanks bro

hey, just saw that perodua got service promotion tomorrow onwards 16-22 May'14... 30% off on timing belt! hahaha just right timing as my previous timing belt change was 6 yrs ago and ran for ard 75k km...
gave them a call just now and was told their price is RM280 before discount. Minus 30% off means RM200 which includes the following:

- air cond belt
- timing belt
- power steering belt
- altenator belt
- tensioner bearing
- oil seal
- labour

thumbup.gif

Fuel filter : Yeah, i'm not sure where is this filter located. I would assume 10yrs old car fuel filter will be clogged or so and would affect fuel injection performance?

35L including reserve.
That's significant FC improvement, right?
*
Yeah thanks for your recommendation. Didn't expect such FC improvement by just switching fuel brand. Wow means this morning my tank left ard 5l only? Hehe .. 420km on 30L fuel is consider quite good for a 10yr old car. Hehr

Cheers

What kind of improvements that we can expect if used in old kenari? expanded battery life? better FC? better power?
