Hi, asking on behalf of sister's kenari ez auto year 2000, mileage around 110k. Beginning problem was car suddenly die in middle of the road when driving, but still can start immediately afterwards, engine light and battery light flashing on dashboard, replaced alternator, battery, spark plug, clean throttle, flushed radiator (coz there's some yellow brownish mud type of dirt in the radiator system?) Then, it turned into second stage of problem, car start to experience "minor" jerk when stopping in front of traffic light & jerk again when trying to pickup after traffic light turn green. Then it became "major" jerk and car keeps vibrating vigorously during idle after the jerk, rpm drop to very low and suddenly rise up alot when switching from idle to drive, then jerk and car stalled. Occasionally car jerk when switched to reverse and stall then suddenly die. Workshop say ignition coil problem and quote RM500 to replace all 3 coils, need opinion to see if the problem is really with ignition coil or something else?

Firstly, this is my opinion only. I'm trying to be helpful, but then I am not a mechanic, nor have I had a look at your sister's car. That said, I tend to twiddle with my own cars and bikes all these years, because I don't trust any workshop.
Anyway, the problem sounds like the Engine Control Unit of the car is giving problems. Could be the ECU itself, or the wiring/power leading to it, or the sensors that the ECU read from. I think your sister should send the car to a trustworthy mechanic for diagnosis. Kenari has On Board Diagnostics port, of which the first thing a mechanic should do is plug a reader into the OBD port, and see the error codes. There shouldn't be this swap-and-try parts which your sister ends up paying for.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend a mechanic to you, maybe some other LYN member can.
Just for your information, a search online puts the cost of new ECU about RM 250, new plug coil at RM 110 each. If you are willing to go potong kereta could be even cheaper. Good luck.
