hi all, my kenari when stop in traffic light got vibration issue. want to check if change the mounting can solve the issue? how many pieces mounting to change and how much it cost.

My personal experience, before decide to change mounting problem, try to rectify your spark plug coil and spark plug first., use recommended enginee oil , to see any improvement after change it if it was too old or not good.

As for changing the engine moulding, although you can get very cheap outside, but for reliable issue, I suggest you get it done at SC and get the original one. Changing engine moulding for Kenari is a "big job" as it involve taking out the engine. All in cost around RM1500 + with parts like oll seals, 3 pcs mounding., new engine oils etcs and labour.

If you do it outside , and they does not do a perfect job, it will create more vibration for you car.

This is just my suggestion. Thank you.

hi!

my Kenari had auto gearbox problem previously, around early of May. was considering to get k3ve in or just change the gearbox. my rough calculation show me it gonna cost around rm10k.

halfcut + installation, ~rm5k
brakes + installation, ~rm1k
adjustable suspension, ~rm1k

not to mention if anything went wrong with the halfcut engine or brakes that incur more cost; there is a lot of hidden cost that kills! you won't know when you spend bit by bit.

plus also like Vinod mentioned, car handling will change. i personally drove a Kenari once, fitted with k3ve auto + semi slick, no doubt i enjoy straight road very much, but when comes to taking corners the feeling is just not correct.

that's why i got ended up with just the gearbox replacement.

i'll suggest you to get the overhaul done. some tips here, if you have time to lepak in workshop and your mechanic willing to follow what's below:
1. clean the engine from top to bottom; inside to outside;
2. clean and measure clearance for piston ring and main bearing; if it's within the spec, please don't change; if it's out of spec, change when only you/your mechanic able to get to correct spec, if can't, change = no change, vice versa (most of the workshop don't perform this job, wasting time);
3. additional info for statement above, if there is worn or burn mark on main bearing then so sorry you'll have no choice to replace it;
4. grind valve (no worries for most of the workshop);
5. get all the oil seal thingy replaced;
6. new engine head gasket (skim engine head if required);
7. install everything from top to bottom of the engine with correct torque spec;
8. measure the valve shim to get to correct clearance (most of the workshop don't perform this job, wasting time).

yea, so as Vinod mentioned, that's what a ~rm5k job looks like. a cheap one, forget about 2. & 3. & 7. & 8., 5. & 6. most likely not an original parts.

theoretically, it's not require to replace crankshaft, piston, con-rod, valve, camshaft and valve bucket unless it's damaged.

engine mounting cost you rm200++ to rm600++. from genuine Perodua, so called original Daihatsu to third party, you just name it, any shop can get for you.

i'm so sorry if the reply is too long sweat.gif

Im not sure those under the tree mechanic would be able to fulfill these steps.. This would seem to be a job better done with authorized service center or some mechanics who are expert in working with kenari.

Initially i thought of just leaving it to my friend's trusted uncle mechanic to get the overhaul done.. Reading ur reply had somehow change my mind as i really want the overhaul to be done right.

Guess i need to hunt around for some really dedicated mechanics before i go ahead..

Thanks for the lengthy explanation! thumbup.gif really appreciate ur feedback

something is not right here. rclxub.gif
changed my engine mountings for under rm400. labour included.
used third party parts (Akiro). no problem.
did it at a normal workshop. not necessary at P2 service centre.

we care. we share. we try not to scare.

tq.

Yes. a big improvement.
car went from dancing rock n roll to a gentle waltz at idle/neutral.
btw, mine is a year 2000 auto kenari.

the kenari is comparatively an inexpensive car to own and maintain (and mod) thanks to an abundant supply of parts from Japan.
one can get a complete meter assembly or pair of tail lights for rm100+.
doors, bumpers, tinted glass, seats n trims also going for a couple of hundred rm.
shop lot mechanics can confidently work on the car.

it is not necessary to use original parts unless one tends to "race" the car.
as a daily run around and driven as it was designed for, oem or equivalent third party parts should be adequate.
but if one is particular about service n maintenance, then by all means use the Perodua SC. and pay accordingly.

+++++++++

from my experience, i dare to say it's engine mounting, most likely one of the mounting completely broken/about to break. please get it check asap for your own and wallet safety.

Hi there

Just wanna ask to anybody got similar experience with me. My kenari aerosport engine got some loud sound inside the engine. Ask one workshop, suggest me to replace the engine better. Or perhaps overhauling could eliminate the loud sound? Need opinion, to replace or overhaul. And roughly the cost to replace or overhaul the engine.

One more, changing the gearbox, how much eh? Tq

And if u all know a good workshop around shah alam/subang/klang, do share ok

had my Kenari engine mountings (Akiro brand) changed in Ipoh.
however fellow K owners in KL hve purchased Schmaco brand mountings for under RM250 and then replaced them in workshops (located in shop lots) for RM150 in labour charge.

however, if you decide to hve them replaced in P2 service centres, then expect double the price because original parts will be used. tq.

hi everyone

need your advise for changing my kenari atf and atf filter.
i called the perodua sc and the adviser do not know what is atf filter. the car is 94000 km now. they told me it is about RM50 only to change atf only.

is it advisable to do outside or back to perodua sc?
my worry is that changing outside will spoil the gearbox due to bad workmanship.

thanks.
