True Proud Owner of XP3 (LMAO).
The story goes like this, I reached SCLG, and the boss straight tell me, GR02 all sold out, I was very disappointed, and he tell me to audition again; the XP3 vs the GR02, so I pick it up and have it another go, to my surprise, it beats GR02 hands down, burn-in 70+ hours result, you won't believe how different it is compare to 0 hour.
All the bands comes out, clear, treble, mids, bass, everything sounds so clear after 70+ near 80 hours. The vocal is now much forward, you can clearly hear almost every detail (can't compare to sub RM500+ one) and the muddy bass is reduced to almost Nil, according to him, best sounding will be after 150+ hours burn-in.
So for whoever wants the best out of this Beyer, Patient, you must be very patient, the TRUE quality only comes out after 80+ hours, 150+ hours recommended but 70+ already gave me the shock, "Is this what Beyer want us to hear???"
So I took out my wallet and now looking for burn-in music (or whatever noise) to let it run the whole night, of course with intermittent pause.

Can't wait to reach that 70+ hours burn-in result.... yeah... Beyer~~

Update: Faster burn in using JLABS Burn In Player, already can see some result such as reduce muddy bass and bands all come out but will need more time to get more details out from this unit.
FYI I just played for 7 hours+.

Haha, that's great!

Now my using time is about 50Hours, didnt go for intensive burn in for that, as open box unit sounded pretty well.
Will add this as a tips for new users in the first page, thanks a lot for your contribution =).

If you like GR02, i might recommend XP3.

The different between this two, bass of XP3 is definite stronger then GR02, while GR02 provides more balance sound.

In term of dynamic, fun and forward sound, i will recommend in XP3 as well.

Using the double flange in XP3 can provide more open sound as well.

tough choice there, coz I like balance and forward sound. Bass also need to be there but not overwhelming

Use the single flange, it provides more forward/aggressive sound.

Yo everyone, been enjoying the Beyerdynamic XP3 from the day I started purchase through Jaben online store. Was pretty skeptical in the first place “Beyer earphone?” “RM199?” “you gotta be kidding me right?”.
There hasn’t been many information on the internet, mainly got the information and some review from springheadphone blogspot, head-fi review, and heavily recommend by them, so I finally take the plunge and ordered an unit of XP3 from them, never been happy before!

This is my first review, hope I’m able to cover all the necessary points to make everyone love it!

My first impression of the product from the website :
XP1 : Bass signature
XP2 : Balance signature
XP3 : Clear signature

According to reviews, XP3 should have the most balance sounding, so hey! XP3 ordered…

When I received the parcel, first impression…. What… the packaging…. After 5 mins of sadness, I finally realize it is “Beyerdynamic” (If you know what I mean, their headphone packaging is having the similar “awkward” design).

Ditch away the package, got the earphone, the accessories are pretty normal, sleeves, pouch and nothing else…

So… Let’s get into sound review shall we?

The Soundstage is on the average side, it presents in more forward and aggressive signature as I was using the single flange. However what i mean is XP3 still preserve a decent quality of staging, not a totally on your face type, XP3 does not sound stuffy or compressed.

Detail separation surprisingly quite good, as before I’m expecting a messy grainy lump up for massive instruments. However XP3 manage to keep most instruments apart and still present a transparent and fast impact to the body.
I tried with heavy metal such as Iron maiden “Invader” to slow smooth song such as Michael buble “song for you”, I’m still able to spot instruments and decent extension speed.

XP3 has good mid-bass, it is tender and smooth, not too much emphasis to it, especially the quantity, just nice, sufficient, tight and well controlled.
However it’s not as accurate as BA driver, a little bit of mid bass hump will be spotted if you pay close attention, but I’m enjoying the dynamic of the bass.
Low Bass has nice extension and rumbling, overly flow sometimes caused overlay on Mid bass, which makes slightly excessive on the bass side. But I didn’t expect a “clear” version has this amount of bass, a big bonus to me…
XP3 has airy vocal and mid range, it is natural and smooth, slightly laidback which out of my expectation, presented in a minor V-shape frequency respond, but great extension on both ends.
The treble is really great and precise. Slight treble sparking can be spotted on, presented in a bright environment but not sharp to your ear.

Conclusion? For RM199, it is a great steal man!!

Yes, XP3 can be considered "quite bass" if you expect it is a pure detail and clean sound with very less impact and extension.
I was shocked too when i first got the product.
But hey, it is actually become a bonus for me, as i can get the fun punch when i need it.

the mid is slight laid back in XP3, but still quite revealing in overall presentation, as it is not towards bell shape mid forward signature.

yeap, E.g
V = good treble, good bass
Bell shape = Good mid, average slope down treble and bass.

the bass is somehow felt different for me

XP1 - strong mid bass and low bass.
XP2- reduce the mid bass and low bass, but main a very strong mid bass punch.
XP3- reduce the mid bass even more, and maintain the low bass like XP2.

Yeap, Xp series can be a great fight in the range of RM300 - RM450, and it sometimes do outperform them surprisingly.

try with different tips, the tips can actually tame the high slightly down by going for better seal and deeper insertion.

Personally i'm using third party tips now instead of the stock beyery xp.

Which 3rd party tip u r using? I'm still looking for the perfect silicon tip. For now I settle for tips that come with my Adagio II.

Not too sure on that, a free tips i get from Jaben, it fits better in my ear and better seal, and i can get much warmer sound.

Was just wondering, I was bundled with a pair of foam tips by Hippo, when i purchased by XP2, hence i'm curious about the performance of Comply foam tips.

Anyone with experience with these 2 and is it worth it to fork out the cash for the Comply foam tips, or just stick to these hippos?  tongue.gif

Tried both, although the material seem different, but both same feel in my ears, sounding wise i couldnt differentiate much. However Hippo Foam is so much cheaper compare with comply, so i stick with hippos =P.
