QUOTE(hom3boy @ Aug 6 2011, 02:55 PM) congratulation for those success. I just received an email stating that i'm unsuccessful... I really dunno whether Shell in malaysia , the scanning process same as all others department of government or not? (only hire for certain race of people) Anywhere, thanks for shell's phone interview only... Mayb unsuccessful here , doesnt mean unsuccessful at other place. Evyone, bless me gt a better job somewhere else in the world ....it has become a habit in Malaysia for people to give preferences to their own race and SHELL is no exception. My interviewer was cold as an ice...attended it this week. This post has been edited by zest420: Jun 17 2013, 01:09 AM

My interviewer was cold as an ice...attended it this week. why would you think so? just because your interviewer was cold as an ice ? ur interviewer doesn't need to show u any emotional expression actually, because he/she is observing & assessing you, is reasonable for them to keep calm / cold u said. personally i think shell does not / have less the issue that u mentioning, I visited shell office in KL and i dun see any big percentage of certain races, i only see a mixture of local and foreigner. U only attended interview once in shell and i think it is unfair if u judge it based on that...i think only those who currently work or worked before inside can offer a better answer I just don't agreed u to put some judgement based on something you doesn't even have a clear view. cheers This post has been edited by MUFTW: Jun 17 2013, 11:03 AM

My interviewer was cold as an ice...attended it this week. A typical example of self-serving bias. It has become a habit for most people to point their fingers at someone else and whine for their failures, instead of doing some self-reflection and think about what you should and could do better. Anyway, best of luck if your interview result is not released yet. But bear in mind that race is never a factor to excel in any competitive environment. Capability is.

other parts of the world - when you fail at something, it's your own fault only in msia - when you fail at something, it's the other races fault

My as well was cold as ice.. 1.5 hours not even a goddamm smile :/ To others, its also a fact SHELL is not being exempted from quota thingy. So ppl work hard lah to cover up the disadvantage

So ppl work hard lah to cover up the disadvantage an interviewer being warm and friendly doesn't mean u have higher chance to success in the interview, after all it still depend on your performance during the interview, they could be cold or warm, but in the end, their objective is the same, to see if u're suit for the company. Their face does not make any different of that and i dun think there is any disadvantage on that, if you do perform in their interview, u get in to shell, if u dun , u simply not capable. I see all races passes through SRD or attended SRD. This post has been edited by MUFTW: Jun 17 2013, 02:05 PM

I see all races passes through SRD or attended SRD. technically it does not affect the chances, after all performance matters and thats common sense we know. Psychologically having a warm and nice interviewer feels more fun to talk and bond with. Ive been to some interviews and could see the difference. I love joking around with interviewers, and if I know someone who is not to be joke around then I should not, and vice versa. Its not easy to deal with poker faces for an hour. Nevertheless, its not a big issue anyway

Check your attitude And btw the first interview is done by third party to ensure the screening criteria is fulfilled.

Received interview invitation email last Friday, 21/06. Chose a slot on Friday, 28/06. Haven't prepare anything yet but done a few research on the Shell website and other tips too. Hopefully I can get through this since I have waited from last year before the chicken pox attacked me and Shell forget the email. *sigh

Is it normal for scheduling coordinator in not replying email? I emailed the scheduling coordinator in asking the result of my interview around two weeks ago. Not sure if she didn't receive my email or it is normal for them not to reply such email as there are high volume of applications.
