Does the MLP URL hijacking still happening?
Has it been disabled totally for all users?

Another Failure In Installation

1. Installation set on today 9:30AM.
2. Maxis engineer came on 10:00AM. She left the Dect phone and TG784n in my house and then went somewhere.
3. I patiently waited until 11:15AM, then I made a call to this Maxis engineer and asked her where is TM's people.
4. Moment later, she came back to my house and told me that the installation cannot proceed. Well, TM's people is missing in action. So, she took back everything and said sorry.

Disappointing, and nothing else I want to say......for now.

Technicolor (Thompson) product page:
http://www.technicolor.com/en/hi/digital-h...ervice-gateways

For landed property with Fiber into the house, Maxis should provide routers (TG784n, TG784n v3, TG797n v3 for 30Mbps) from the ADSL product range.
For highrise property with VDSL, Maxis should provide routers (TG799vn v2) from the VDSL product range.

From this page you can see that there are multiple versions of the router for a model number. This may explain the v2 v3 confusion. Not 100% sure, just my observation.

Added on October 1, 2012, 1:21 pmFrom 2 pages back, it looks like some users got the TG799vn, without v2. And this TG799vn, besides VDSL, also has a WAN port for connecting to ONT unit. So this unit can also be used for landed FTTH installation.

So far, only TG784n and TG799vn spotted in this thread. Any other users using other model?

tracert to DOta 2 server

I did some IP geo lookup. The result: your packets are traveling from MY to US, then from US back to SG. That is why it has such a high ping.

I don't play DOTA, so I dunno too much about it.
But by looking at the tracert, isn't it faster if connect to US DOTA server?
The packets does not have to make a turn from US back to SG.

Still got one RM118 subscriber here waiting for installation... I dunno if I am the last of the group. Last installation, TM contractor no show. So next week see if they will show up. If not, I think I am going to break the record again.

Why break record?

I submitted my form on May.

Even if IPTV is available, what's the difference with Astro?

Some more, I don't want to ruin my family's mood of watching a show half-way, then TV blackout because Thompson router need restart. doh.gif

My installation is done!!!

My house is an apartment above shop lot. There is no telephone exchange box, so it is considered landed property. It just took them 2 hours to pull cable from downstairs up into my house.

It seems like Maxis has dumped the TG784n. They gave me TG799vn.

So far so good. I will leave it on 24/7 to test its stability.

I have done speedtest on all 5 Singapore servers. 4 of it has ping less than 50ms. The one that is hosted by telin.sg is giving 180ms.

Maxis did not do the correct routing for the IP range of the DOTA servers. So your packets travels to USA, then only travel back to SG.

If you have the IP address of the DOTA server, maybe you can include it in your complaint.

how can i get dota 2 server IP address? wanted to call maxis and complaint. Im never have a high ping when using unifi sad.gif

I don't play DOTA, so I dunno how you choose the server.

First you have to know where is the DOTA server located. Is it in Malaysia, US or SG. You can try to ask in DOTA forums or your fellow player/friends to get the IP address of the DOTA server. If you can get it, then you can complaint to Maxis and tell them you have high ping when connecting to this IP address.

If you can't find out with the above method. Maybe you can try to use netstat. In Windows, start a command prompt (cmd.exe). If you are on Vista/7, you need to start cmd.exe as Administrator.

At the command prompt, type 'netstat /?'

This will show you all the options you can use. Stop all other programs that use internet. Start DOTA, connect to a server, then Task Switch back to desktop and type 'netstat -nb'. This will list out all TCP connections you have. If you cannot see anything, try 'netstat -nbp UDP'. This will list out all UDP connections.

If you can see the exe name of DOTA, you may have found the IP address of the server it is connecting to.

deposit.files is blocked by Maxis's DNS. Change to use Google DNS.

It is written on the box as 799N. Inside the box is TG799vn.

Quick 2 question be4 changing to google dns.

1) Will the change to google dns affect downloading speed from file-sharing sites n torrenting?

2) I need change the setting on my pc onie or need to do it on the router-level?
*
Google DNS will not affect your download/torrent speed.

If change on your PC, when you connect to another internet gateway, you will still use Google DNS.
If change on your router, it will apply to everyone who connect to your router, so you don't have to change your home's PC 1 by 1.
So, it depends on you.

Maxis has updated their terms & conditions. The early termination fee is now RM500, not the remaining payment.

Need to get some feedback... I'm shifting to a new place and since my current contract with Unifi (20Mbps) was already over since last July, I'm tempted to switch to Maxis. More so with the new offer that Maxis is offerring. Is it a wise move? Keep hearing connection problems with Maxis. I have nothing but pleasant experience with Unifi. No broken connections or throttled downloads from what I can see.

I save RM 300 required to move my Unifi connection from current to new place. Don't watch the HyppTV and therefore won't miss a thing if I go with Maxis. I will pay RM 51 less every month for the same speed as I have now with Unifi. Alternatively, I can have faster 30Mbps speed at RM 1 less every month than what I'm currently paying.

I don't game and I don't torrent but I download movies heavily. I download using paid premium accounts. Thanks.

I have been using Maxis for 10 days now under private IP. No disconnection, no slow down. My brother's torrent is running fine. The TG799vn router has no issue at all. Since you don't game. The high ping issue won't bother you much.

Guys. I switched from unifi. And I realise this thomsan modem is freaking funny. Ping to google need 30ms. To Singapore 100ms. I search through internet and found that this is the thomsand problem.

To use custom router I only found huawei and zte vdsl modem. Unfortunately im using the i240g-p modem. How can I improve the ping? ?
*
EDITED:
Bad ping may not be caused by the router/modem. Sometimes it is the problem at Maxis side.
What is the model number of your Thompson router?

Tg784n

Can use other router or modem instead of this 1?? But im now using ZTE or Huawei VDSL
*
Not much tweaking info is available for Alcatel-Lucent I-240G-P. BTW, I am also using this modem.

You can try configure a VLAN capable router and connect it back to the same port on the Alcatel modem, but this way, you will not be able to use the VOIP phone anymore.

If the TG784n is not stable, you can complain to Maxis and ask them to replace it with another model: TG784nv3 or TG799vn.

So that means you have 2 routers connected to the modem? One VLAN capable router and one Thompsom router?
*
Nope, what I mean is to completely replace the Thompson router with another custom router and maintain all the cable and port position on Alcatel modem.

The Alcatel modem is configured to allow only 1 specific port for us to connect the router. For you setup to work, someone has to figure out a way to go into its configuration page and activate another port.
