Can current 3rd Party GC HSF be used on newer versions of GC aka those DX10 ones? I am thinking of changing to a new GC but i am worried that my current Zerotherm could not be used on those and that would be a real waste..

if u are reffering to 8800 series the answer would be no, only HR-03 Plus edition from themalright that specially designed to fit the larger chipset size of the G80 able to work properly on 8800 series.
I am not sure for 8600 series as it's just released.

i personally will prefer the old ac silencer design (same as HIS gc n inno3d i-chill)... they create a better case ventilation besides cooling the gc alone n they r really silent... is ther any aftermarket cooler for 7950gx2??? i can't really find 1 except the water cooling which i'm trying to avoid, 1st maintenace, 2nd hard to get parts, 3rd afraid of leak, 4th cost... n most of us change our parts within weeks or months... so wc might b a bit not so frenly... can any1 help me out for 7950gx2 cooler???

sorry if my answer disturb any1 n pls don't flame me... i've tried 8800gts 320mb n it doesn't perform as well as 7950gx2 n only about the same as 7900gtx on some of the games i play which is still using dx9... mainly gtr2, carbon, age of empire III, rise of legend, cs (very old), so that's y i opt for 79 series lor... as dx10 games not out yet, not vista user yet, n i wan to save more $$$ to buy bigger lcd, wanted to have a 24" monitor so i can watch tv (astro) on it while resting on my bed... but when dx10 games is out n if i like the games then, hmm i'll sure buy 1 but i guess dat time is 89 series aldi... hehehe ... well i'll try a foxconn 8600gts (on another pc) next week when it reach my house... (got it coz fren offer very cheap)... so back to topic, got cooler for 7950gx2 ar??? sigh, wanted to do very simple vmod on it n the stock cooler is just crap...

@HaHaNoCluE
Hmm of course loh, 8800GTS 320mb will suffer at higher resolution,, even 640mb will do just fine. If u want nth wrong then GTX is the only solution which often way out of budget for most people.. this is not USA after all. People can't afford some thing extreme...
I am not sure how u set the games, but i have run the following game at max detail with AA and AF at maximum as well. Exp: C&C 3, Tomb Raider: Legend, WTCC, COH, Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter. I dont experience serious lagging only minor lag when there are too many units for strategy game....
further more i think the cooler on 8800 series works well by exhaust the hot air out directly ... which the main reason i didn't bother of changing the cooler ... but it wont be the same for GX2 .... no option on third party cooler besides WC ...
@akachester
yah there's never any air cooler for it due to the strange size and number of users that are minimal...
only WC block was designed for it due to demand of extreme OCker...

Anyone tried the new CM GC cooler that came together with the Galaxy 7900GS Super?Its on sale now for barely about RM60+.. This post has been edited by akachester: Apr 21 2007, 05:24 PM

And it depends on what type of TIM you use too. If you use those chapalang white thermal paste, you won't notice any differences, and it may be giving u a lower performance than the stock heatsink.

Im a newbie actually when it comes to aftermarket coolers. I also wanna start out with air cooling..,also i would prefer a cooler that would provide cooling to the RAM sinks.
Budget?? Maybe less than RM200?? Is that enough?? Not really interested with water-cooling atm..,

Not really interested with water-cooling atm.., lol..RM200?You can already get some of the best.. But i think some of the best GC cooler around wont be able to support 6600 AGP..Even the TR HR-03 and Zalman VF-900 had mention that it wont be able to support 6600AGP This post has been edited by akachester: Apr 21 2007, 05:40 PM

QUOTE(DaRkSyThE @ Apr 21 2007, 09:46 PM) what HSI thing? i think u need to elaborate further. If i am not wrong, HSI = High Speed Interconnect chip which is used in the 6600 AGP cards. It got something to do with PCIE protocol used in AGP.Some sort of communication thingy. I should google more and check about it..lol...This is the main problem that causes 6600AGP card to be not compatible with alot of third party GC coolers out there... Well, its stated in TR's website that the HR-03 would not fit onto the 6600AGP because its unable to cover the HSI chips. Anyway, just realise this at the bottom : ※AGP HSI bridge chip not covered but a solution is in development, to be completed in February 2007Not sure its already available or not, cause if it is, then HR-03 would be a great choice for the 6600AGP This post has been edited by akachester: Apr 21 2007, 10:02 PM
