Thanks bugg, for posting all the details. Very helpful.

In the warranty statement above it says that the vehicle is covered by warranty claims agains manufacturing defects. Take for example the radiator which one of the items mentioned in the list of items covered. It is quite normal for the radiator to develop leaks/problems as a result of wear & tear. If a leak occurs when the car is 4.5 years old, will Kia be obliged to change it for FOC ? Same applies for other similar parts as well.

The reason I would like to be as clear as possible about this is to protect the owner against the possible ignorance of the Service centers etc.

I have been fascinated with the K5 from the first day I laid eyes on it. I have very rarely taken to a car the way that I have been with it. The T, H and N pales in comparison to its great looks.

There are only a couple of units in Kluang, Johor where I live and they are real head-turners.

I am still waiting for a car to be available to test drive. Will then place an order for the white color one. Am told that the waiting period is now 2-3 weeks but knowing the SA, I will only believe it when I see it.

I've spent quite a bit of time reading all the posts from V2 onwards and I get a very positive feeling from all of it. Thanks for sharing all the info and your experience. smile.gif

Naza Kia is more than willing to solve the issues under warranty and with great effort.

That's really comforting to hear as I have just placed an order for a white K5. The authorized service center here in Kluang has so far been pretty decent for my Naza Ria for the past 8 years or so. I do hope that they will be able to do a good job with the K5 in future especially getting things done under warranty. sweat.gif

For me i faced some jumpy steering issue but i guess thats just the way the car is. Not really a problem or defect. But to try and solve this 'issue', Naza Kia offered to replace both my rear shock absorbers FOC. But no difference cuz like i said before, its not really a defect. But my current problem is the stale smell for about 5 secs from the aircon when u switch it on during a cold start. But Naza Kia have now ordered a replacement aircon filter just to see if it solves the problem. Ive also faced the vibrating wiper issue for some time. Naza has now odered a replacement wiper arm & new blades for me although wipers are not covered under warranty. Naza Kia also replaced both my front fog lamps FOC when the plastic cover became bent on 1 side. Again not really their fault but they still replaced out of goodwill. No issues since then.

So far Naza Kia have been very good with the after sales service and warranty claims. But they need to reduce the lead time of replacement parts which is too long now.

I just did my 10,000km 2nd service last week and it cost me about RM280 inclusive fully syn oil, filter, allignment, balancing and wash.

Does the jumpy steering wheel problem occur at all speeds? or is it just at high speeds?

When i was test driving the K5 last week, I noticed that it was pulling slightly to the left.

Is RM3k sufficient for windscreen insurance cover? And does it cover the sun/moon roof as well? smile.gif

If I am not mistaken, someone did replace his K5 crack fornt windscreen for RM2000. Windscreen insurance will cover the 4 side windows, rear window, front windscreen and also sunroof. But the problem is, the sunroof cost arround 10k doh.gif  so you have to actually fork out from your own pocket to settle the balance..

Let say you have 3k windscreen cover, one side of the window is broken and it cost RM300 to replace, meaning, that year, your windscreen insurance cover balance is RM2700. And if the RM2700 also used up, meaning, you do not have windscreen cover for the balance of the year.  smile.gif  good thing is, you can top up, but have to pay full year premium eventough your car insurance is due in a month time. wink.gif

Bro..how long you need to wait for your k5?
*
Didnt have to wait actually. There was a white K5 available at the showroom when I went over for a test drive. After I paid the deposit, the SA told me that I could have it if the loan came through quickly coz there was someone else also eyeing it. The loan came through on Wed after Raya so I managed to get it. biggrin.gif

Was able to get a RM2k discount. The SA is also changing the logos ( from Kia to K ) - front & back and on all the wheels.

Hope the car works well for you, but this is usually depends on luck also. Btw mind telling which sales outlet you get it from?
*
Kluang, Johor as I live here. Tried an outlet in JB but they dont offer more than 1k discount.

Congrats! Welcome to the family! Just be careful when parking. U need to get used to the reverse camera and gauging the front space. Will take alot of effort but the rule is never take risks. If ure not sure get out of the car and check. Even 2cm can result in a deep gash to your front fender.
*
Thanks bro, for the advice. It was a little overwhelming when I first got behind the wheel. The seat is very low and couldnt see much of the bonnet. I'm so used to my Naza Ria where I have a very commanding view of everything. The K5 should have come with a front camera hmm.gif

Got a little more comfortable after driving it for a while. Really looking forward to many, many hours of driving pleasure. biggrin.gif

Yes, very tempting all the poison I'm reading here. icon_question.gif

Have to learn to pace myself for any other additional purchases. I've already made an appointment with Mr Choong at Sierra Glow on 29thSept - this is the earliest Sat he can slot me in. sweat.gif Sierra Glow must be a very popular place.

I drive frequently outstation and in city so here are my figures. At 110kmph (2250RPM), its about 6.0L/100km. At 160kmph, its about 10.20L/100km.

For 80L in 80% highway at 160-170kmph and remaining 20% in city driving, my max distance travelled was 780km. I was told some tested 100% highway driving at 110kmph and managed to achieve 915km.

For highway driving, the Optima is quite economical but in city driving, it will consume more since its a heavy car. But the biggest contributer to fuel consumption is not these figures but the way u drive. Most ppl think they are driving economically but actually they arent. So dont worry too much about FC. Improve your driving habits and ull be able to get good mileage.

I drove up to KL from Kluang last weekend after my 1st service. Speed was about 115km/h and I used the auto cruise a lot of the time. But the best FC I could get on the display was 7.8l/100km. Will this get better over time?

I also found that speed shown on the speedometer was about 5km/h more than that displayed on my GPS. When i drove my company car ( Camry ), both the speedometer and GPS showed the same fig. Anyone else having this issue?

Driving around in Kluang gave me a reading of about 14 to 15l/100Km. hmm.gif

Have the following problems with my car
1) The steering wheel and gear stick of my car seems to be vibrating when idling.
2) the engine seems to sound and feel a little rough when accelerating hard. 3) I was overtaking last week and stepped on the accelerator hard but the engine just roared without surging forward (sounded like it went into neutral for a while).
The SC cant seem to find out what the problem is. He asked me to send the car in for a couple of days for him to check it out.
Anyone face these problems before?
