Comrades, I've got a few problems with my car, which the SC said are common among K5s, do you have such problems?

1) the lumbar support mechanism has free play, meaning when I accelerate and decelerate, i can feel and hear a "cluck" sound from the seat, SC said it's common. My lumbar support is just lightly adjusted, around 10-20% from the off position.
2) the rear view mirror has poor quality plastics, it makes cracking noise when you squeeze it lightly or when the interior is cooling down from the hot sun. SC said it is common.
3) and off course there're the funny noises from all over the cabin

SC told me it's normal, just accept it. I disagree loh, this is not Proton, so I hope they don't treat their customers the Proton way. Btw, i'm not being overly fussy, ironically, the Rondo that they loaned me for two weeks didn't have all these annoying noises.

I'm planning to escalate my complaints and ensure that these problems are rectified.

My car have none of your issues too bro.
For your info, I sold off my 2011 Camry because of sound orchestra in my cabin.
The reason was partly due to my mistakes too....installation of aftermarket dvd player and tint with an accessories shop.
These accessories shop use Myanmar workers and their fittings were absolutely rubbish. Need to dismantle my centre of dashboard uncountable times to settle the creaking noise.
5 months down the road...I can hear all the loose noises coming up again and worse still....my driver side door power window become loose....Toyota say warranty cannot cover since I put aftermarket tint.
So I learnt my expensive lesson not to open up anything in my K5...I have not even tint my car.
Perfectly alright so far.

huh? just because u put tint toyota does not warranty? its common now days to put tint.

Yeah bro, I argued with Toyota, but they said cannot cover. I tried 3 different SC and all gave the same answer.
I paid to replace it, and then removed all the additional tint before selling off the car.

My tint was 3M bro...not a cheap one.

First they replaced the wiper blades alone but it was a different type. So now they have ordered the original wiper blade and arms as well. Yet to arrive. So for now, im still using the current set of wipers. But they told me they can try and get for me from an existing Optima first and then replace that when my set arrives.

Bro, where do you service and claim your car warranty?
I would like to go to the same place in the future for my K5 services.

Does anyone here has any experience in fixing the 7" or 8" Touch Screen GPS Navigator + Bluetooth + Stereos for your K5 ? Will it void the warranty ?  biggrin.gif
*
Sure will void warranty and if you are unlucky, your dashboard will start to make noises.

But, heard that Kia is bringing in the Touch Screen GPS cost around RM3K ?
It is say to mean if you installed it yourself outside then warranty void but if you installed it at Kia then you still got the warranty ?  tongue.gif
*
Yeah bro, if install with Kia, warranty is not void...outside install, no more warranties for electronics in the car.

Full tank of Shell RON95 petrol, travel from Puchong to Batu Ferringhi, Penang and to Puchong back....total 760km....still got 2bars left at the indicator(can go another 110km)....maintained car speed not exceeding 120km/h.
Some bros here got better mileage I guess.

The Distance to Empty (DTE) readings are only indicative. It drops faster if ure driving un-economically and drops much slower in economical driving. If ure driving at constant 110kmph, the 1 DTE kilometer actually represents 2.0km. Meaning, if ure driving at 110kmph and your DTE shows 110km then u can probably drive another 200km or so.

The fuel warning in the Optima is actually 4 stage:

1) DTE goes blank (less than 50km indicative range)
2) Low fuel light comes on when you have 2 bars left (depending on driving style)
3) 2nd bar disappears and only 1 bar remains
4) Last bar starts blinking (you can drive another 20km before you must fill)

My mileage is now 15,000 since collecting the car end April.
*
Thanks for the advice bro...normally i will refuel when there is 2bars left....no courage to go beyond that.

Hey guys, I think this is a bit of controversy... But would it be better for optima if we pump 97 instead of 95?
*
Bro, I use RON95 for daily usage on heavy traffic roads and RON97 on long highway journey.
If I am not going for long highway journey, then RON95 for first 3x and then RON97 for 1x. Follow that cycle.

Bro, its actually a waste using Ron97. Using a higher grade fuel when the car only needs a lower grade doesnt give you much advantage. Maybe a slight advantage in a slightly cleaner engine but still not worth the RM3/L price tag. Plus, using a higher grade fuel would make more sense during city driving as the engine is under more stress in start stop traffic as compared to a constant speed rev on highway drives.

In my previous Vios, i used Ron 97 for a some time until i had to change to Ron95 in 2010 on instruction by my company. I didnt feel any difference and the engine and acceleration was the same.

If you are really particular, then maybe give yourself a full tank of Ron 97 once every 3 months just to clean out the engine. But seriously, i wouldnt waste money on pumping Ron97 that often.
*
Agree with you that no much difference in power between both fuel.
I am using RON97 for the purpose of cleaning the engine only.
On long highway journey, you will get better mileage with RON97.
