Hi all K5 followers

The new K5 spec WILL NOT have the LCD display and built-in GPS. This is from reliable sources. There may be some minor interior changes & enhancement. But can't confirm the actual spec 100% until the car is out at the outlets. The NU engine is confirmed.

I read that the new Nu 2.0L engine has only 160Hp & 194Nm torque compared to 163Hp & 198Nm torque on the current Theta II.

Can anybody confirm this?

The newer version of Sportage with NU engine is already available and comes with MDPS (Motor Driven Power Steering) or Electric Steering instead of the previous one with Hydraulic Steering.

It would be interesting if the new spec for K5 also comes with MDPS! We all just have to wait and see! MDPS has speed sensing feature, which tightens the steering at high speed for safety reasons and loosen it for better maneuverability during low speed or parking etc..

Guys, need some advise from you as my sales agent is going to bring my car tomorrow to the services center to do the tuning from Ron97 to Ron 95. Please let me know whether it is feasible to do so. Or I still can pumped Ron95 without having to do anything to the car.

Hi mate, went to the service center and the boss said no need to do any setting at the moment. Asking me to pump Ron95 as usual. However, he still not sure what will happen to NU engine as Kia haven't sent out the memo to them. So.....I guess I will continue on Ron95.

By the way, I am still using the first tank of Ron97 pumped by my SA. And K5 is a lovely car to ride!! Love the car so much especially the electronic steering, very smooth and light!! But the sounds proof when hitting 120km/h is rather noisy. But..who cares!! K5 is amazing!!

Cannot be turned off. Why would you want it off anyway? Its a safety feature and it adds to the beauty of the car as well.

Btw, its called Daytime Running Lights or DRL.

Just to put them into the same unit for comparison:

Theta II max power :165 ps @ 2000 rpm
Nu CVVL max power : 172 ps @ ? rpm

Theta II max torque :198 Nm or 20.2 kg.m @ 4600 rpm
Nu CVVL max torque :201 Nm or 20.5 kg.m @ ? rpm

Theta II fuel consumption : 13.16 Km/liter
Nu CVVL Fuel Consumption : 14.00 Km/liter

i strange that the other sales man also told me it will blink sound for the speed limiter, you all salesman should test drive the car itself before giving wrong info to client...

Yes i dont think the K5 CVVL comes with the 172PS engine. I think its probably the 165PS version but with less torque. So far no confirmation whatsoever from Naza Kia.

you set the speed limiter, and then press the pedal to exceed the speed limit you set? Then what for the speed limiter for???

are you refering to Cruise control in your statement??

Speed limiter is to limit your speed to a certain speed you set, and no matter how, you cant exceed that speed la.....

Have you really try the Nu engine K5 like I did on my car???

Then why bother having a speed limiter if it can be bypassed manually by your foot? Might as well stick to the cruise control since the function is the same? 

I remember last few times i really did floored the pedal, but the speed just not beyond the limit (80km/h) i set....

I tried it just now. I set the speed limit to 80km/h. Then when the gauge reached 80km/h, the speed remains no matter how far i floored the accelerator. The speed limit cannot be overwritten. That's my experiment on my NU engine

Tried the above at MEX just now, set the speed limiter to 110km/h. Floor the pedal to the end for a few seconds, and the engine gave out a loud grunge, and the speed shoot up to 120km/h. Quickly release the pedal as RPM meter goes to 5k.
