Hi all K5 followers

The new K5 spec WILL NOT have the LCD display and built-in GPS. This is from reliable sources. There may be some minor interior changes & enhancement. But can't confirm the actual spec 100% until the car is out at the outlets. The NU engine is confirmed.
*
Hi. Do you know the new K5 is with NU 2.0 CVVL or NU CVVT. i found that there are two version of NU 2.0 engine. Thanks.

I read that the new Nu 2.0L engine has only 160Hp & 194Nm torque compared to 163Hp & 198Nm torque on the current Theta II.

Can anybody confirm this?
*
Hi CM98,
I think the engine horsepower and torque that you mentioned is NU 2.0 CVVT. Pleas see this link:
http://news.cheshi.com/20120415/550088.shtml

There is another link mentioned that coming 2K13 Sonata & K5 equipped with NU 2.0 CVVL engine. It can achieves 172ps & 20.5kg-m (170HP & 201Nm).
http://leopauldelrosario.blogspot.sg/2012/...fective-on.html

Don't know which NU engine that Naza will brings in. NU CVVT or NU CVVL?
Can anybody know this?

The newer version of Sportage with NU engine is already available and comes with MDPS (Motor Driven Power Steering) or Electric Steering instead of the previous one with Hydraulic Steering.

It would be interesting if the new spec for K5 also comes with MDPS! We all just have to wait and see! MDPS has speed sensing feature, which tightens the steering at high speed for safety reasons and loosen it for better maneuverability during low speed or parking etc..

Those who are interested in K5 BEST Deal, please do not hesitate to contact me via PM / whatsapp / sms to 012-2359910

Guys, need some advise from you as my sales agent is going to bring my car tomorrow to the services center to do the tuning from Ron97 to Ron 95. Please let me know whether it is feasible to do so. Or I still can pumped Ron95 without having to do anything to the car.
*
If you free. Follow your sales agent together with your new car to service center. Ask technician for more details before they do this 'tuning'. Or any impact with/without do this tuning. Maybe there is a simple job that change the ECU program or adjust some parts in the engine.....

Hi mate, went to the service center and the boss said no need to do any setting at the moment. Asking me to pump Ron95 as usual. However, he still not sure what will happen to NU engine as Kia haven't sent out the memo to them. So.....I guess I will continue on Ron95.

By the way, I am still using the first tank of Ron97 pumped by my SA. And K5 is a lovely car to ride!! Love the car so much especially the electronic steering, very smooth and light!! But the sounds proof when hitting 120km/h is rather noisy. But..who cares!! K5 is amazing!!
*
It's good that you went to verify by yourself. Btw. Since the service center hasn't received any memo of NU enginer. How come your SA asked you to go service center for 'tuning'?

Does anyone facing air con problem on your K5? How did the SC solve it?
I am facing the air con issue but SC has no idea to solve it.
When egine starts and set air con temp to 22~ 23 deg, feels cold.
Then it blows hot air after few minutes, no matter car is in stationary or moving.
Even set air con temp to 20 deg, It just feels like a normal cold air.

Cannot be turned off. Why would you want it off anyway? Its a safety feature and it adds to the beauty of the car as well.

Btw, its called Daytime Running Lights or DRL.

CM98. Remember last time you said CMD called you for an appointment with Korean engineer. How is the outcome. Your issues solved?

Just to put them into the same unit for comparison:

Theta II max power :165 ps @ 2000 rpm
Nu CVVL max power : 172 ps @ ? rpm

Theta II max torque :198 Nm or 20.2 kg.m @ 4600 rpm
Nu CVVL max torque :201 Nm or 20.5 kg.m @ ? rpm

Theta II fuel consumption : 13.16 Km/liter
Nu CVVL Fuel Consumption : 14.00 Km/liter

Cheers!

I found that there are different power & torque figures for NU CVVL engine in both Korea & Europe. You may check them in KIA Korea and KIA europe websites.
Power & torque in Korea website are 172ps and 201Nm. But in Europe website are 165ps and 194Nm.
Anybody or sales agent can verify this? If they tuned the engine power separately for Korea and Europe. Then which power & torque setting is used in Malaysia?

i strange that the other sales man also told me it will blink sound for the speed limiter, you all salesman should test drive the car itself before giving wrong info to client...
*
What sales man told you is right. It sounds when you exceeds the speed limit. But he didnt tell you the key point. You have to fully press the pedal in order to exceed to speed limit that you set.

In owner's manual it mentioned press pedal more that 50% and the car will exceeds the spped limit. But I found that i need to press more that 75% in order to exceed the speed limit that i set.

I feel it is quiet useful for me especially in highway. I can overtake car if needed and most of the time car runs at 110kmh. Lets have a try~~~~

Yes i dont think the K5 CVVL comes with the 172PS engine. I think its probably the 165PS version but with less torque. So far no confirmation whatsoever from Naza Kia.  vmad.gif

Hyundai Sonata is also equipped 2.0 NU engine for its yr 2013 car. It's been stated in their website. I wonder why Naza still keeps it secretly?

Do you know what you are trying to say?

you set the speed limiter, and then press the pedal to exceed the speed limit you set? Then what for the speed limiter for???

are you refering to Cruise control in your statement??

Speed limiter is to limit your speed to a certain speed you set, and no matter how, you cant exceed that speed la.....

Have you really try the Nu engine K5 like I did on my car??? rclxub.gif
*
Please have a try and you will know it. It has clearly mentioned in the owner's manual. Of course I did it.

Then why bother having a speed limiter if it can be bypassed manually by your foot? Might as well stick to the cruise control since the function is the same?  rclxub.gif

I think it is a requirement in order to get the Europe NCAP 5 stars rating...
Found this link and the details:

I remember last few times i really did floored the pedal, but the speed just not beyond the limit (80km/h) i set....

i will try again later today....thanks biggrin.gif
*
Maybe you can set the speed limiter to 60kmh and try first. One things I dislike is I almost fully pressed the pedal in order to exceed the speed limit. And you will hear the engine suddens surge loudly.
This is my finding. wait for your outcome. smile.gif

I tried it just now. I set the speed limit to 80km/h. Then when the gauge reached 80km/h, the speed remains no matter how far i floored the accelerator. The speed limit cannot be overwritten. That's my experiment on my NU engine

You can check page 5-58 in the owners manual. It should works.

Tried the above at MEX just now, set the speed limiter to 110km/h. Floor the pedal to the end for a few seconds, and the engine gave out a loud grunge, and the speed shoot up to 120km/h. Quickly release the pedal as RPM meter goes to 5k.
*
Yes. I also tried it this evening.smile.gif. Maybe you need to depress the pedal harder for 2~3 secs. My opinion is don't always drive exceed the speed limit that you set. Feels like the car is in overdrive mode. The rpm of car suddens rise to 4k and above as gear downshift to 2nd/3rd gear.
