QUOTE(erictoh84 @ Nov 5 2012, 11:34 AM) i'm considering to get the K5. Currently driving a Civic 1.8 and my fuel consumption is aroun 20cents/liter. how's the fuel consumption like for the K5? worse or better? full tank rm120 of RON95 petrol can get ~650km on 90%city drive. If heavy footed, or always in rush, can drop to 550~580km.what is bugging my mind now is just the fuel consumption, service and after market price.. can anyone sort this out for me? service wise, interval at 10k km, each time with oil and oil filter and gasket ard RM290. A more detailed maintenance cost is at the first page , i think. Been to Glenmarie, Redcube, and kota kemuning service center, both later SCs are willing to hear any complains. Had my allignment done for free even at 6000km at redcube. This post has been edited by K5WHITE: Nov 5 2012, 05:14 PM |

QUOTE(bUGG @ Nov 6 2012, 08:57 AM) Now u have seen the picture of both engine, but it doesn't tells anything. I don't think u can make decision just my looking at the photo of the engine. Yes, now that we have an idea how the old/new model looks like, the next step would be to take it out for a spin.Go test drive one now. Is free. Unfortunately, the Test Drive center is still using the 2011 K5 model. Will certainly share some experience if any, in the future. If anyone has tried out the current Theta II and the Nu engine, feel free to share your thoughts including some of the minor upgrades |

So the new Optima Nu engine gives out 170Hp and 201Nm torque as compared to the previous MPI engine which gives out 163Hp and 198 Nm torque. Plus the speed sensative electric steering is another plus. Damn!
Any other changes? I noticed some changes to the steering wheel buttons especially the cruise control. This post has been edited by cybermaster98: Nov 6 2012, 04:23 PM |

I have to admit....the electric steering is definitely a plus point. Easier to handle the car compared to when I test drive the previous version.

QUOTE(taximan74 @ Oct 23 2012, 06:01 PM) compare accord 2.0 and k5 2.0 which one is faster? On paper, the K5 is among the most powerful 2.0 normal engine's around. But you need to remember that the Optima is a heavy car. Plus, in terms of power delivery, the Koreans are still slightly behind the Japanese. So some of that Hp and torque is 'lost' in transition. That's why ull feel the K5 being a bit sluggish from dead stop acceleration. But the new Nu engine Optima should be better since it comes with 7Hp & 3Nm torque extra.Added on October 23, 2012, 6:18 pmmy friend said his accord 2.0 powerful than k5 2.0 but i dun really believe cos in the brochures already stated k5 got more PS and torque. accord 2.0: 156 PS , 189 torque k5 2.0 : 165 PS , 198 torque how can accord be more powerful |

Cant understand why Naza Kia did not include this in the previous Optima version. Even the 2010 Forte 2.0 has electric steering. |

But more reason for Toyota & Honda to be worried once Bermaz launches the new Mazda 6 sometime end January 2013. The 2.0L model tentative pricing about RM 158K. Quite reasonable considering the new tech on board. Another car that will surely eat into the Camry's pie.

I prefer my existing steering over the electric steering. I am the typre prefer the real feeling of the steering. In other words, I like to feel the corners and road. Electric steering can't give me that, the feeling is artificial/fake . |
